KTLW
Sorry for the bad pic, but can anyone tell me what is wrong with the Xenia? It does not seem to pulsate any longer & it looks like it is about to detach from the rock.
reefman
The health (or lack thereof) is normally and idicator of your water quality. I know, because when my Nitrates spiked the first time, the Xenia where the first things to whither away. Stephen
KTLW
I did a water test & the only thing that was off a little was the pH Nitrite - 0 ppm Ammonia - 0 ppm nitrate - 0 ppm pH - 8.
John Simon
Water parameters? Lighting changes? Any information would be great!
Robb in Austin
IME, Xenia can survive and even thrive in 'poorer' water quality(Not sure what that says about my tank). I only wish my Xenia would wither away. If you need a re-seed, lemme know. Perhaps it is about to migrate. I can't say I've noticed mine not pulse just before moving, but mine seems to just sort of spread out.
offroadodge
dont know either for sure. i know when the PH gets below 8 the seem to quit pulsing and seem to wither up. Try another PH test kit.
muddybluewater
You should check your salinity also
Rjohn
Mine perked up after I started adding Kalkwasswer and Aragonite to my top off water reservois (not together).
Meteorflower
My xenia only pulsed under high light, so if you've changed anything about your lights lately, maybe that's it... they also are supposed to be sensitive to low pH, they really like it high, or so I've been told. Good luck!
JamesL
Also, there are some (be them rare) tanks that xenia just don't like, regardless of the parameters. In my old 24g tank I could not keep xenia, despite everything else doing fantastic. Now in my current 75g, I tried it again, and it is growing like the weed you hear about Same water source, but different lights (my 75g is MH, my 24g was CF). Wryknow
Did you have a Ph change? 8.0 seems a bit low. Are you dosing kalk water or anything to help the Ph?
barderer
usually this time of year its a temp change. Xenia is very sensitive to temp changes.
stoneroller
Dose some iodine, I use Brightwell's Iodion. That will cheer them up.
KTLW
I have have not changed anything with the lighting, I added some pH buffer Monday afternoon & I am going to check it again today. I have had the Xenia for about 6 months and the problem just started, I did recently add a heater & have it set @ 78.
