Stephen
I accidentally broke the UV glass cover on my metal hallide lamp. Can I still run the light on my fishes? I don;t have any corals right now. Also, where can I replace this glass piece?
Gonzobob
You will want to double check but I believe that any tempered glass will work.
caferacermike
The lead they put in glass is to shield UV rays. The glass must be tempered so that it candle the stress of the high heat output of the lamps. Any glass shop can help you out but it might take a couple of days for a replacement to arrive from the kiln in Houston.

muddybluewater
I wouldn't run it without the glass. Your fish don't need it any way, but the uv might give them a good tan.
