mhart032
Will a UV sterilizer help with my small algae problem? or is it just the starting of the tank and the cycles it goes through.. thanks Matt
+Daniel
What type of algae are you experiencing? How old is your tank and what do you have inside?
johnoburns
Tell us more about your tank. How long have you had it setup and running? How many gallons is it? What do you have in it (snails/hermits/fish)? How many pounds of live rock do you have?
JamesL
What everyone else says, but I think the answer is this is a new tank. If so, then this is normal. There will be ugly periods, possibly up to many weeks. But once your tank cycles, and becomes established, the algae will go away... as long as you keep up with water changes and don't overfeed. chrisfowler99
If you're cycling, you're going to have some algae buildup. Do you have any mexican turbo snails? They tore up my algae.

Yeah, they are great. The only draw back is they can bulldoze things like coral and loose rocks.
