+BobcatReefer
Have had this Potter's Wrasse for 3 weeks and he's been in tip top shape since day 1. Eats like a champ, all over the tank, not being a jerk, following me like a puppy whenever I'm at the glass. Came home today and he's lookin' really rough. Laying on his side w/ labored breathing. Weak enough that i was able to pick him up w/ my hand (twice). Got him in an isolation area (of sorts) and hoping like heck it was something like being stung by the anemone or a coral (unlikely). Added these yesterday: Frogspawn Torch - 3 headed6 Metallic Blue MushroomsSuperman Rhodactis MushroomCandy Cane colonyPink Bubble Tip AnemoneHammer Coral GSP rock Anything I can do to help him? FarmerTy
He looks fine in the video. Have you observed him eating since you got him? Leopards are weird, sometimes better off to let them dive into the sand and take care of themselves, especially when there are no obvious signs of health issues, such as a bacterial infection or external parasites. +BobcatReefer
Hasn't eaten a bite. He looks upright in that video because he popped himself up after being on his side. Hasn't moved from that spot in 15min. He didn't seem to have the strength to burrow earlier when I was able to pick him up and put him in the iso box. Kinda flashed around for a second when I blew some water on him w/ the baster just to see if he'd respond, but didn't (couldn't?) burrow. Let him out is the best bet? FarmerTy
Well, if you have him isolated, try several different types of food to feed him. With no physical symptoms apparent, I think he's just starving to death. I think if you release him now, I think he will just die based on what you mentioned. +BobcatReefer
Dangit! Had to leave the house for an hour or so, so I just let him go. Starving to death? If anything I feel like I've been overfeeding him.

FarmerTy
How's the fish today?
+BobcatReefer
In fish heaven. Took a good look at him post mortem and didn't see any signs whatsoever of a parasite or wound or anything to indicate cause of death. I did think his belly felt empty, but the last time he would have eaten was Sunday evening, so that makes sense 36 hours later. Super bummed. Such a pretty fish and so personable. FarmerTy
That's a shame. It's worse when you can't figure out what happened. Sorry for the loss.

Woods
Jeff, sorry for your loss! It was a great fish and seemed super healthy and strong. I sympathize with you as it is very frustrating when you can't identify what happened to cause it.
+BobcatReefer
Thanks Woods - he really did seem healthy and strong. Part of the risk of the hobby though... We've all had fish for years that turn up dead one day.
