Christyef
According to liveaquaria.com, a red flame hawk may eat shrimp. Will it eat my harlequin shrimp?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
FrankenBakon
I've had a red flame with 6 cleaners, a coral banded and a harlequin for about a year with no issue
FarmerTy
I think that's overstated. I had mine with a cleaner shrimp just fine. I think they are more referring to something bite-sized, like a sexy shrimp or something else. If anybody has ever experienced something else, please do share. Gig 'em @ NDstructible
I'll agree with Ty, a hawkfish will only eat something it can fit in it's mouth (although sometimes that can be a surprisingly large size), but I would not think it would eat a harlequin shrimp. Sexy shrimp would be in danger and smaller shrimp specimens could be in danger of a hungry hawkfish.
ShawnM
I had my arc eye hawk fish and it ate both cleaner shrimp I had and 5 peppermint shrimp. I am pretty sure the red and arc eye have the same eating habits so I think it's a hit or miss and also I think it depends size of tank how much food it is getting and so on. I am sure you can have one where it doesn't eat any shrimp and then the next tank it will be a mass murder of shrimp Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
mFrame
All depends on the size. My two hawks have left my coral banded and cleaner shrimps alone, but decimate peppermint shrimp. How big is your harlequin?
