jcasisa
Hey all, Here is my question, I need to add an auto top off. I lose about a gallon a day to evaporation and I want to be more consistent and accurate when adding water. But I want to try and hide the reservoir because it will not be under my tank but next to it. My plan was to use one of these food vaults and then place that in a nice wicker basket so that you don't really see it. Since it is food safe I would think it would be perfect for a reservoir and it has a huge lid for easy refilling. Since it holds 50 pounds of food I would think that it would hold close to 10 or 15 gallons of water and the pump would be submerged as well. Thoughts? -John
Jimbo662
As long as it's food grade then you're good to go.

jestep
Definitely good. I used a $3 - 7 gallon trash can I got on amazon for a long time. I personally don't think it needs to be labeled as food safe as long as it's plastic and new or never have been used with something toxic. Most commercial plastic containers are going to be inert.
