ShawnM
I got a bunch of buckets at work they were used for food products ( i.e. Peanut butter and mayo) wondering what's the best way to clean them would vinegar and some scrubbing be enough? FarmerTy
I don't know if there is a true answer to this but if it were me, dish soap and a good rinse followed by a vinegar soak and I'd feel pretty safe to use them. If you are truly worried, buckets are only $2/$3 at Home Depot without any risk involved.
Reburn
I don't know what white vinegar runs as I don't do the household shopping but I'd imagine it's $2 gallon. So you've got $1 per bucket just in vinegar plus your time to scrub out first. Call me lazy but the cost savings just isn't there for me. I would just buy new ones. But if you want to I would do like ty said then do a 10% vinegar soak overnight.
