Jimbo662
What's the best material to use under a pump to reduce vibration / noise?
jestep
Following because I haven't found anything better than the suction cups my pumps came with. I tried EVA foam to no avail as it is way too buoyant. I think most other foams are going to float too well also. I do have a EVA mat under my entire sump which helps quite a lot. LarryD
Internal or external?
FarmerTy
I used a silicone baking mat from Bed Bath and Beyond and zip-tied it around the pump. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Woods
I cut up an old mouse pad, and it works great!
mFrame
I cut up an old mouse pad, and it works great! I went the mouse pad route once and they'll eventually dissolve and make a mess. I'd take it out! If you look on the cookware aisle in HEB you'll find silicon hotpads for under $5. Like Ty said, these work good with a zip tie. Otherwise you can shop BRS. I've had this one which worked great.
Jimbo662
Thanks! I'll check HEB tomorrow.
jestep
What about something like this? Seems like the ridges would make sound transmission through it less likely - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00TRLI1HW?psc=

Dan H
If your pump is external you can use some simple insulation foam. I had some leftover and just cut some small squares. Works great.
Sascha D.
A few years ago I saw Mark do a video where he used Styrofoam under his skimmer. The Styrofoam didn't dissolve over the two years that I had used it. One problem I had with the foam was that it would slide and the pump would eventually touch the walls of the sump and make some noise. Juiceman
I'm currently using this for my returns: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/oxo-good-grips-reg-silicone-sink-mat/3256090?Keyword=silicone+mat and this for my skimmer: http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/oxo-good-grips-reg-silicone-sink-mat/3256090?Keyword=silicone+mat
austx
I got a silicone drying mat from target. Very similar to Juicemans setup he listed above.
jestep
Also, I can't find a link to them, but someone posted using silicon hose with clamps on the pump outputs to reduce noise transferred via the tubing. I know PVC and flexible vinyl will still transfer a lot of noise even if the pump is isolated.
Jimbo662
I use silicone tubing from BRS to connect the pump to the plumbing.
jestep
Also saw these on amazon. Might make it easier to zip tie to than the flexible sheets. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OCVAR7E
