FarmerTy
I remember Dan throwing his name in the hat for hosting. Something about a laser light show as the entertainment for the meeting. [emoji4]

MantaFan
I've done quite a bit of diving and UW photography in Australia, Fiji, Hawaii, and French Polynesia. I don't know if enough people would be interested, but I'd be happy to share and talk about my images at an ARC meeting.Let me know if that's worth an afternoon topic.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Popular Post Dan H
Talked with Mike and it's a go at my house. Topic: automation and disaster prevention. I'm sure he'll change the title and stuff, but it will be at 3PM, and our address is: 6305 Maury Hollow 78750 We're in the Lakewood neighborhood off 360 north of 2222. If I'm not too busy with work and have enough motivation, I'll try to make some pulled pork bbq for y'all. Wine will be available because wine + talking nerdy fish stuff = awesome.
Viet'spride70
Do I have to committed to? since I work Saturday and not sure I can make it out. I love to hear others opinions. I am hungry for knowledge.
Dan H
Just show up if you can. Having a guestimate on headcount would help as far as buying snacks, but other than that, it really doesn't matter to me.
Viet'spride70
Voted to attend. Thanks Dan.
Dan H
No problem. Gives me motivation to make sure our tank (and house!) are ready for prime time.
mFrame
Do I have to committed to? since I work Saturday and not sure I can make it out. I love to hear others opinions. I am hungry for knowledge. We do set a minimum RSVP headcount for the meeting to make sure the staff and host don't spend time and money preparing for a meeting that people can't make. If you aren't sure you're if you'll attend it's better not to RSVP, since we use confirmations to make sure we'll hit at least the minimum to make the setup worthwhile. To be clear, you do not have to RSVP to attend, we just like to have a certain head count to make sure that the host and staff aren't sitting around all day waiting for more people to arrive. It allows us to plan and set expectations.
Viet'spride70
Excuse me mike...I need to understand these, 1-who gives out RSVP and who receives it? 2-Who expects u and/or ur staffs sitting around waiting to people show up? This is a about a group of hobbiest getting together to learn and share knowledge. It is considered a FREE attending for any members If u don't mind to educate me with ur best understandings... Makena95GT
He means it helps to know if people are actually going to show up. If only say two people RSVP.. It may not be worth the effort to host the meeting.

FarmerTy
As homework for this meeting, can we devise mini-emergencies to throw at Dan's tank and see if it survives? Consider them tank stress tests? I could simulate an electrical outage by flipping the breakers at his house. Perhaps a hose popping off a barb and spraying his whole sump area to test the waterproof boxes?

I could simulate an electrical outage by flipping the breakers at his house. Perhaps a hose popping off a barb and spraying his whole sump area to test the waterproof boxes? Geeze you're evil. Actually, throwing the breaker is part of the plan. I already unintentionally sprayed water on the skimmer controller box, so accidentally tested that. I haven't tested the leak detectors... Maybe we should try that? I suppose I should test it before testing it publicly and being embarrassed when it fails. If you want to think of possible emergencies, I'm willing to show where the system is or is not capable of dealing with it. I'm sure there's plenty of things that would still be major problems. This is a about a group of hobbiest getting together to learn and share knowledge. It is considered a FREE attending for any members If u don't mind to educate me with ur best understandings... We had a lengthy discussion about it all here, but in summary If you're sure you're going to attend, RSVP for the number of people (including yourself) that you'll be bringing. Planning and hosting a meeting can be a lot of work for the host and staff. We have to arrange food, drinks, a topic and sometimes a demonstration. Additionally the host often spends time preparing to have guests. For that reason if at least 10 people don't RSVP by the Tuesday before the meeting, the host or staff can determine to cancel the formal meeting and instead just set an "informal meeting" location at one of the local fish stores, pub, or some alternate location. The goal is for people to be able to meet and talk about the hobby, it's just a question of how many are meeting and where.
