new55galSALT
Thanks guys !!!! Didn't know what to look up for info.... Apparently I've placed it in darn near the perfect spot ....thanks again
Woods
It should redden up over time as it gets more light and healthy. It looks to be bleached out some, which is why it is pinkish.
+olaggie01
Could be a montipora digi as well?
Dean
Could be a montipora digi as well? I was thinking the growth looks more like digitata also. Never seen any that pale though.
FarmerTy
I still have my money on setosa. The roundish branches clue me off to that. All my digitatas have somewhat flattened branches, especially in the ends of the branches. Also, most digitatas have whitish growth tips. We'll see in about a month. FarmerTy
Just give it time... a lot of my SPS lighten/darken up while transitioning to my lighting from the last tank/store lighting it came from.
+etannert
Setosa does well under lower light than many other SPS, at least that was what I noticed when it was in Chavez' tank.
new55galSALT
Everything I've read online about setosa says it needs medium to high light.....should I move it or leave it be
FarmerTy
Medium and high light are very subjective to each tank. My low light is most people's medium light. I tend to use zoas if you don't have access to a par meter. If they stretch a little, I consider that low light. If they are flat against a the rock, I consider that medium to high. Either case, I've had more SPS die of low light than high light so I usually move to higher if it doesn't look good. I know... the opposite thinking of softies and LPS. Sascha D.
+1 Setosa. Mine bleached when the phosphates were high and came back full strength when I brought them back down.
new55galSALT
Ok I'll move it higher tonight when I get home hopefully it hasn't died yet....it looked pretty much all white last night before the lights went out
new55galSALT
Moved it to the top of my rocks hopefully it will color back up if not its another sps down and I'll just stick to LPs and softies
Sascha D.
I started my 150g with dry rock and dry sand. For the first 6 months every sps I tried in the new tank would just bleach like this. Could it be your tank is too new? I have LEDs and I keep my Setosa about 17" from the light.
new55galSALT
The sand, water, rock, and filtration came from my 56 that was set up for 3 years...I just transfered it all to the 40 and gave it a new light after it cycled again I tried the sps...maybe I need to wait longer
