defender.TX
These SCA Cubes always look so good. How do you like the stuff that comes with it like the stand and skimmer?
Jimbo662
I chunked the plumbing in the trash and started from scratch. Love the layout of the sump. The channel in the center is perfect for all the rubble I had. So far the skimmer seems to be working well. The stand was much more substantial than I expected. It's just the right height too. You're able to look down into the tank but still have it at a good level for front viewing too.

One last question, is it possible to cut the black backing off or is it painted on? Thanks! I'm thinking about getting one of these when we buy a house. Jimbo662
I'll have to check. I think it's just a vinyl film.
defender.TX
I'll have to check. I think it's just a vinyl film. Cool, I was hoping I could just peel it off with a razor. If it's the same vinyl they use on most All-In-Ones you definitely can.
Jimbo662
It's looks like it is just a film of vinyl on the back.
Reburn
You had me at planted tank. I still have mine and I have been thinking of setting up another.
defender.TX
Awesome, glad it's just a film. I'm also looking at the 66 and the 80, they all look so nice.
Jimbo662
If you're ever in the area you're more than welcome to stop by and take a look. I'm off University Blvd about a mile east of Ikea.
Jimbo662
Love the size of this tank. So easy to take some top down shots.

Bpb
Still liking the kessil? How is just one treating you. Seems like the shadowing would make branching sps tough to keep happy
Jimbo662
Thanks, and yes still love the kessil. I've only got three sps...a small birds nest and can't remember what the others are. From what you can see with the set up now it doesn't look like there's much shadowing going on.
jolt
I've found with my kessil that I need to mount single sticks of SPS at an angle, so that at least one side of the stick gets good light. Then I let them encrust and choose for themself where they want to grow new branches. I do get areas of dieback in the shading. It's not optimal
Bpb
Nope not much. You have expertly scaped and stocked with the perfect type of corals to make it a non issue
Jimbo662
I guess I'll perform a science experiment then. The birds nest is centered under the light. The other two are on either side of the rocks about 4" from the side of the tank. We'll see how they respond.

Jimbo662
I finally added a few new corals to the tank that I've never had before.
