Jimbo662
My ph has been in the 8.1 - 8.25 range. The daily swing is only about .05 or so. Yesterday I changed the programming on my vortechs and increased the intensity of my lights by 1 degree. Just got home and saw the ph had gone up to 8.3. Would these two changes cause it to increase? it's never been over 8.25. Everything in the tank looks extremely happy and fully extended. victoly
You should be fine. A little more lighting could increase pH by having additional phosynthesis (reducing CO2, increasing pH). More water flow could also slightly increase it by driving more CO2 out of the water via gas exchange. Either way, that small of a change shouldnt be a problem. Timfish
Either might stmulate an increase in photosynthesis which would drop the CO2 levels whish would increase pH.

Bpb
I can corroborate. In the last 3 weeks since I've ramped my lights up to a longer photoperiod I've seen my ph top out higher with each time increase.
Jimbo662
It topped out at 8.32 before dropping. I'll keep an eye on it to see if this pattern holds.
jestep
To add, if anything changed in the house or environment around the tank it could affect it as well. Opening windows, changing fan speeds, less or more people in the house, etc.
FarmerTy
I read a post where a guy knew his kid was throwing a party while he was out by the drop in pH via his Apex. Sent via Tapatalk
