+olaggie01
Thanks for bumping this. I definitely have plenty of updates. I'm currently in Japan and will update when I return. Tank is 2/3 full of water and fish have been added. Tank sitter has been feeding and monitoring the fish. Everything seems ok so far. +olaggie01
Ok. I've got a break from my day and figured I'd up. First of all, starphire is amazing. I will never again buy a tank if it does not have starphire glass. Before I left on the 14th, I got the tank leveled and begun filling it with saltwater/LR/fish. The tank is about 1/2 full and has about 200 lbs of LR in it, along with ~12 fish. My plan is to let it cycle (although all the rock has been cycling in my backyard for 4-6 months) for another 2 weeks after I return (unless the frag tank looks terrible). Still left to do is hook up the CL pump (which I received the plumbing on the 14th before I left town) and transfer the light from the frag tank (once I move the corals and remaining fish over). My plan when I return home on Saturday is to hook up the main tank to the sump in the closet. This will allow me starting skimming the water, and allowing my biopellets to colonize the rocks in the display tank.
+olaggie01
And now some pictures. Closed loop drain ( will need to add some height so that no sand gets sucked up) Plumbing with double union ball valves Tap water leak test Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
+olaggie01
Found 2 leaks during the leak test (bulkheads not secured right) 2nd test was a success. Closed loop pump with oceans motion. Had a few holes and patches to fix in the ceiling. Not perfect but good enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

victoly
Is there a valve on the influent side of this pump? If not, you're gonna have an awful wet floor when you need to do pump maintenance.
+olaggie01
Good catch. There is a ball valve underneath the tank. I may install one closer to the pump but I haven't decided just yet.
victoly
If that's a 1.5 inch pipe, that's a fair bit of water coming out during maintenance.

FarmerTy
Ohhh, I want to play. Spend money on this Chris! FarmerTy tried and tested! Works like a charm on the 3/4" glass (and probably easily on 1" glass) and I can throw my stick scraper away now. This thing mows down coralline nicely and can flip in-tank to wipe down the film algae without you getting wet at all.
+olaggie01
Cool Ty. Guess I'll buy that next. And don't worry Ian. It's not like you told me to invest in a 500k piece of equipment.
