KevinB
Being new to SPS, some of my frags have died, some are doing great, then there's this slimer. I've had it for at least 4 months now, and just a couple of weeks ago it started turning white...It's 4 inches long, and half of that is now white. The white area has stopped expanding. At night poylps still come out all the way to the tip of the white half. I know rapid growth can often be white, but I wouldn't expect 2" of white growth out of a 4" coral. There have been no recent lighting changes. Thoughts?

KevinB
Alk burn usually presents in the tips IME. That's a thought, but the thing that's got me perplexed is that so much of it is white, and yet the rest didn't turn white, and the polyps acting normal. Bogdan
Too much light if the upper part is whitening?
dshel1217
the only time mine have gone white is when they bleach. was it a gradual or happen in a few days?
KevinB
It happened over the course of a week or so
dshel1217
It happened over the course of a week or so my guess is that its adjusting to your lights and the white tip/end is new growth. hope it goes well and if not hit me up and I can give you a frag of my slimer. KevinB
Well I don't know, but for whatever reason the white part looks smaller than it did a few days ago, is that possible?
