Jimbo662
I'm from New Jersey and would really like to get my hands on a Planet Aquarium tank. Can I ask if you went through a local (to you) lfs to get yours or did you go to them directly? Either way, could you steer me in the right direction to make contact? Thanks. I had planned to have one of the LFS's order one for me but got lucky and they had this one in the store. I think any LFS can order it for you. I'm really happy with mine...great build quality. I'm using the apex to control them. I'll be putting the first corals in this weekend and will post pics.
Jimbo662
I'm super excited to see this top.... Very professional looking! Thanks, this is my first time working with acrylic. I did a few test glues on some scrap and think I figured out the secret...taking it nice and slow to make sure I don't screw it up.
Jimbo662
First corals are in the tank!!! Blasto Orange birdsnest Eye of Rah Superman rhodactis Tyree Toadstool Getting closer to finishing the frame for my net / cover. Need to put in a cross brace at the center and pegs to support it on the tank and to hook the net to.
Jimbo662
So, I've got two MP40's that I had on my 175g / 6' tank and am reusing them on my 75g / 4' tank. I've currently got them about 8-10" below the waterline and about 4" from the front. Now that I'm starting to add corals where would be the best placement and what do you think would be the max power for a 4' tank?
Bpb
Difficult call. I have a wp25 on one end and an mp40 on the other of my 4 foot 55 gallon, both set to random, and the mp40 is turned all the way down. Both are about 8" from the top. I'm having major issues of sand being blown down to the glass right in the middle of the tank. If possible just put one at one end and one at the other an maybe run them reef crest anti sync on low and see how that works. I wish I could sync mine to have flow going from one end to the other periodically, though not in waves. Long term wave use freaks me out. I fear for seam integrity. You could pull it off since they're matchibg
Jimbo662
Yeah, I was planning to do anti-sync on them. Just wanting to make sure I don't get too much flow going that it'll affect anything I put in it. I went with the special grade sand and haven't seen anything blowing around. RobR
This is a helpful tool from ecotech. http://ecotechmarine.com/calculator/ Just enter in your tank dimensions and glass thickness and it calculates how much flow you need for different corals. Not an exact science, but it may give you a starting point... Hope it helps if you haven't seen it before. Btw corals look great!!!
Jimbo662
Cool, thanks. I'm hoping to get the screen finished so I can get some fish in it this weekend. A "friend" is going to hook me up with a pair of black snowflakes.

versace
Its Cool set up!!!! How your skimmer working? How is noise or vibrate? I thinking try to get that skimmer. Please give me some information.
Jimbo662
This skimmer has a long break-in time. Took over two weeks. Once it's broken in it can take several days to get it dialed in correctly but once that's done it seems to be doing a great job. I'm getting very dark skimmate. My camera battery is dead. When i get them charged I'll get a pic of it. You definitely have to have patience with this one. It's also very quiet. I don't really think I even hear it over the hum of the return pump.

Jimbo662
Got some pics of my new tank mates I picked up at C4! An acro from RCA A blue tip something or other from Niko's A couple of birdsnests (i think) from RichardL Jedi mind trick from RCA Candy canes from Richard A nice little surprise when I got home the other day. Clown hosting! And a FTS. I couldn't get a clear pic of the carpenter's wrasses. I'd asked Niko to order two out of a list and he was able to actually get a male and female!!
