Dustin Pedretti
I like how you continually moved bigger and bigger without actually using them...haha...true reefer LOL my wife feels the other way about this hahaha, i can imagine. i'm not a true aquarist, i guess. i don't replace, i just add mostly. that's why i have 4 permanent tanks running well, maybe 5, depends on what i do with the QT when i'm done with the most of it. only one is salt water, though. anyway, enjoy your gigantic tank. I'm on my way there myself...got two going now and about to start a fish only soon in a 55g
nuxx
Well finally got the tank in the house Friday... This would have been IMPOSSIBLE without the help of Timfish Tim really is the tank moving whisper... A Japanese Maple and column would have made going through the front door VERY hard, so we went through the garage. We might have had 1-1.5" of clearance width wise coming in from the garage. Then in the middle of the house we had to do a 90 degree turn in the center of the house. Here we might have had 1-2" of length left. Tim made it work though... It's really funny just how close size wise it was to get this tank to fit in the house haha Ordering the rock today
Planeden
that's huge. is it going to be built into the wall?
nuxx
that's huge. is it going to be built into the wall? Nah, there is an area in that room that is recessed. Will go there with the sump in the stand, plus any other dosage equipment I decide on. Behind that wall is the laundry room. Will put the ATO / New SW tanks in there and also the RODI unit.

nuxx
Busy busy weekend Started out with getting our order of Marco Rocks on Friday. Ordered 400, but got closer to 500 pounds. Good mix of his normal rock and shelf rock. On Saturday, we ended up doing a muriatic acid bath on them. Took Two large Rubbermaid tubs and a 55 gallon barrel. Used about 100 gallons of water and 10 gallons of acid. Did 1/2 the acid for an hour, then added the other half and let that go for an hour. After I added in baking soda to stop the reaction. Then dipped in 2 buckets of RODI water, then soaked in RODI water for a bit. We then let it sit in the sun and dry. A storm started rolling in, so we then ran everything back inside before the rain. The rock really came out nice. It definitely looked a lot more porous then before. It's amazing how clean the rock looked, but then how much actually ended up coming off. I'm glad I spent the time doing the acid bath now, especially if the phosphates keep at bay. We then ran up to Jeremy's (Offroaddodge) house and we finalized my stand design. I really can't wait to see the finished product! Sunday we went to drop off all the rock at Patrick's (Subsea) place to start curing in his massive 5000 gallon system. I'm so lucky that Patrick allowed us to take up a whole side of his tank with our rock. He showed us some of the rock that has been in there, and it looks great. Now we're spent...
