victoly
So i brought home a new toy to play with from work, I use these to sample groundwater as an environmental consultant. They're manufactured by a local company (measurement specialities) and use an android tablet/phone as the display. I tested my display tank, tap water and RODI water after calibration. Here are my tank stats:Date Time Temp © SpC (uS/cm) DO (mg/l) pH ORP (mV) Salinity TDS Notation 09/02/13 13:08:57 26.04 52730 6.69 8.01 180 34.73 33750 "bc29" I was happy to see that my refractometer was backed up with this meter! My RODI water also specced out at 0.2 ppm of TDS.
+Mitch
Cool! How much does that run?
victoly
The cost varies wildly depending on which set of parameters you get (you can even get nitrate and calcium!). At least several thousand dollars

bige
That's sweet. I wish there was a piece of equipment that ran continuously on our tanks that read all parameters. Does this run continuously?
victoly
yep, you can plumb it inline (see the john guest fittings?) to have water flow over it continuously. you can have it log data at whatever interval you wish.

FarmerTy
Don't forget to record turbidity and to decon the flow-through cell between wells! (Sorry, nerdy environmental humor)
victoly
sidenote, turbidity is CRAZY expensive to calibrate! Solutions are like 75 bucks for 500 mL, and it's a multipoint calibration!
FarmerTy
Wow! That is insane! Maybe that's how they make their real money.

bige
Dude time sharing airplanes has been done forever. We should totally go in on a copter, I'm in. My uncle owns a 737 and flys tons of cool people. He just flew Keith urban last week. So a helicopter could really benefit us. Plus we could drop everyone off at work. A win win. Great idea Victoly.
