victoly
Found a whole bunch of these jerks in my tank. Anyone seen these before ?
George Monnat Jr
Ouch. Did they come in as eggs or tiny snails and grow or hitchhike in on something recent?
bige
I've never seen them before but I'm sure they could exist. Hopefully just one.
victoly
Ouch. Did they come in as eggs or tiny snails and grow or hitchhike in on something recent? Pretty sure they came in on a softie. I tend not to dip them.

George Monnat Jr
Some of those look like Bumblebee Snails (coral-safe carrion scavenging omnivores), or is it just the light?
victoly
Neeerp, not bumblebees.
victoly
my guess is euplica versicolor. nothing in literature suggests its a coral eater though. perhaps it was just eating slime off of the coral that had RTN? Sure did look like it was chewed on vs RTNd.
bige
You had a lot of them. It could have been eating dead flesh or slime. Who knows.
ramsey
I've read that snails with a "lip" on the shell (like nassarius snails) that tapers like that are predatory. You might want to hit up John Malony from reefcleaners.org. He might be able to ID it, especially if they're Caribbean snails.

victoly
Upon further consideration, don't think these guys were actively eating my coral, just scavenging on dying tissue (i.e., non-predatory). They actually do a pretty good job cruising the glass and cleaning up. They also reproduce like mad.
victoly
I also believe that they are euplica scripta vs euplica versicolor.
