madsalt
Thanks Planeden. I wanted to do something to finish it off but didn't want it to be to over the top. The trim on top is just high enough to hide the black trim on the tank.
Planeden
Nope, it's not over the top. Just gives it a nice clean finish.
+KimP
Thanks Planeden. I wanted to do something to finish it off but didn't want it to be to over the top. The trim on top is just high enough to hide the black trim on the tank. Definitely not over the top. It really finishes it and makes it look like a nice piece of furniture, very professional looking! Sascha D.
Your stand looks very nice. Better than a store bought stand for sure. Have you decided where to put the holes for your overflow yet?
madsalt
Sascha I am going to to cut two holes instead of cutting out one large one like some people do. I should be cutting them today, in fact I should have the stand done today and in the house with the tank on it :-)
+SChrisEV
Great work on the stand! Looks great!
madsalt
picture update the stand is getting stained and the doors are done, they will be stained at some point today. The doors are held in by magnets
madsalt
The stand is in the house and the tank is on it, I am so stoked, here are some new pics Like I said earlier the doors are held on by magnets so I can just take the whole things, it works awesome As you can see from the last pic with the doors I have a lot of room to work The stand couldn't have come together better, with the trim hiding the black trim on the tank. I guess it is now time to move this to tank builds and continue there

madsalt
Water is in, still working on aquascape and a few pieces of equipment, time to move to the tank build section of the forum Thanks for all comments on the stand, it was my first time ever building something like that. I am happy with it, now that it is set up, I would probably tweak a few things but overall, very happy

madsalt
So I have an update to to my stand build, I have added a canopy. I went with a simple pine frame because it is light and there was no need to go with oak or anything like that. I went with oak on the outside to match the stand. The canopy is accessible from all four sides thanks to Mr. Saltwatertank for that idea. The top is open as well as the back, no need to close it in completely and it allows for great ventilation. The current light is mounted using a pulley system tied off to a cleat that allows me to raise and lower the light as needed, I plan on installing a rail system and having 4 36" LED lights, each will be fully adjustable allowing me to create multiple lights zones. In the 7th and 9th pics you can see the light suspended by the pulleys, I can't wait to get the 36' lights and the rails Lots of pictures, I hope to have it stained this week

Planeden
i'm trying to think of another way to say "wow, nice job. it looks great". but nothing is striking me so that will have to suffice.

madsalt
I never really posted a pic of my finished tank and stand. I moved recently so I had to break every thing down and move it, that sucked. Here it is now setup in my dedicated fish room, I love my wife for that.

madsalt
Right now I am doing the long drawn out stabilization of the tank. I have a few corals and figs since I set the tank up 2 months ago. So I am going to take my time and let the tank mature. If I find some small frags that peak my interest I ought grab those and put them into my tank. I am working on my saltwater/change system right now and I will post some pics when I get that done
