esacjack
So oddly enough, I have two tunze nano 9002 doc's. Instead of buying a larger protein skimmer, i.e. the reef octopus nwb110, can i just run both tunze's at the same time in my sump? Or will it be terribly inefficient? I know the 9002 is rated up to 55 gal, I have a 46 gal DT with a 20gal sump. Can I just use 1 of the skimmers? Or do I need to man up and just buy the reef octopus? Lastly, should I be running a skimmer during the curing of my live rock? I know this is a fairly controversial subject, but I'm curious as to your experiences. victoly
In terms of power consumption, yes you will be pretty inefficient. In terms of nutrient export, it should be effective. I own a 9002, and I do not believe that it will be sufficient for 60+ gallons, two may not even be sufficient.
(Bio)³
+1 to what was said above. And yes I run skimmer during cure.

HaysStanford
Should a protein skimmer be run while you are cycling your tank? Would it just make the cycle take longer?
esacjack
not while cycling the tank, but im using it during the curing of my LR.
