Richard L
I've had this on my list to add to my display tank for a long time now and Sherita's catastophic lost has finally got me off my butt to make it happen. I was able to negotiate a flat $15 for the Vertex grounding probe with Premium Aquatics provided we buy 12. They would be shipped free and you could pick them up at my house at your convenience. To keep things simple I'm only accepting advance payment with Paypal or you can pay me back if we have had financial dealings before. The Vertex probe is nice because it just plugs into any grounded outlet and instantly protects your tank from stray voltage. No wiring is required. Also, I believe if you plug it into a GFCI outlet any stray voltage would trip the outlet letting you know you have a problem. I'll be placing the order on Sunday at 5pm.
Juiceman
It's got everyone thinking of the possibilites! I think I'm in! So if I want to dummy proof my GFCI since I have my tank split between 2 different breakers right now, should I get 2 of them?
(Bio)³
I'll take one. I can PayPal you in advance or cash on pick up like always.

+Mitch
I would be interested. Is one needed for each the DT and the sump?
victoly
I would be interested. Is one needed for each the DT and the sump? i would think so, because there wouldn't be any electrical connection between the two bodies of water. could be wrong though, just a guess. FarmerTy
I was gonna say... hold up the bandwagon real quick and look into the issue first. There are many discussions out there pro or con for a grounding probe. Let's take a look at the topic a bit. It's not just as simple as grounding probe = path for current to exit my tank. I'm no electrician and hopefully someone with more knowledge of this will chime in. Richard linked a couple of good articles there. Let the discussion begin! -Ty

Led light fell in my sump and shocked the dt the current went throw my return water and overflow water...
jestep
I just posted a basic pros and cons for them. I don't think it's a good idea to hastily make a decision to start using one. They have definitely drawbacks that should be addressed based on how a tank is setup. I would never under any circumstance use one in a DT.
