ClarkiiCircus
So Im trying to get my new tank to start cycling, I plugged in my used mag 3 pump and it works great. Then I switch out the surge protector to add the heater and I plug the return pump back in and nothing happens...no sounds, no moving or anything. I keep plugging it into every outlet and the wall, still nothing, even though it was working fine just minutes before. I shook it al little bit took it out of the water and still nothing. Is there like a secret reset button or something?Has this or anything similar happened to anyone else? Is it broken? I dont want to take it apart just yet, but Im getting no response from the pump at all. Any advise is appreciated!
victoly
Air locked ? Turn the pump over a few times underwater and see if any bubbles come out of a hole in the casing. Once the air is gone it will work, if that is the issue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jestep
Every time I've had a pump with no hum or any noise at all it was toast. But, I would strip it down and see if the impeller rotates correctly and there isn't anything jamming it up. Put it back together and see if it will come back on. Otherwise, I would say it's got an open in the circuit somewhere which is why there's no noise at all.
(Bio)³
sounds like the pump is air locked or the magnets are aligned to spin right, take apart and find out. should be able to pop it apart then put back together very easy.
+Capt. Obvious
Check for snails or small chunks blocking the impeller (although it should at least be humming)
