(Bio)³
There is 10v in and 10v out.
victoly
what happens if you use a cut cat5 plugged into the light and apply voltage to it? It sounds to me like the pins are wrong, or there is something very, very wrong with the design.
(Bio)³
I have a prototype with bare wires. If I connect them it dims out.
victoly
hmmm, so you can't shed light on the cat5 issue then. womp womp.
(Bio)³
ok so negative to purple positive to yellow. with a 9 volt battery if I apply it the light will dim.
victoly
well that's the correct outcome, but i thought you didn't have one with a cat5 connector? #edit NM, looked at the driver wire colors in your pic, makes more sense now.
victoly
ok so negative to purple positive to yellow. with a 9 volt battery if I apply it the light will dim. whats interesting though is, if there is no voltage applied, there should be no light output right? is it off until you apply 9v? +SChrisEV
Just to add to this, or make it more confusing. I picked up my light and purchased a manual dimmer, tried it out in the shop there. Light was on full. Plugged the dimmer in and it dimmed down to the lowest setting about 10%. Was then able to turn it up to max, or where ever you want. I'll provide pics once I get it on my, OH SO EXCITING.... empty tank tonight. lol

victoly
look at the driver again. are you sure you want to be plugging into output 10v (yellow?). Are you sureyou aren't going into green? Either scenario for v2: White/Orange Stripe (cat5) -> Purple (driver) Orange (cat5) - yellow or green (driver)
Funkness
if you need to redo the cat5 cable let me know i have the RJ45s and the crimppers to remake them once you figure out the config needed
(Bio)³
figured it out, the jack was wired in b format, Apex is in A format.
(Bio)³
testing with a 9v batt ian your idea doesnt work, interacting with the ground and any wire produces nothing, only by putting it the way stated above dims When I cracked open my keystone jack It wasnt wired right, when I put it at orange to purple orange white to yellow in A format I can now dim the light by applying current.
