Cannibalism

I had not seen Mollies eating "mollie fry" until last night. At first, I thought that the different Alpha Males were acting out and hunting pods. Not so, the large Silver Mollie was eating Black Mollie babies. Then a large Black Mollie male and female joined in the hunt. Then, I saw what Victoly posted about this behavior. Initially, I thought a large Alpha Male was acting out sexually. I am convinced that the male was looking for the female that was drooping large babies. These fish have been acclimated to marine systems for several weeks with a 70% survival rate. These fish are looking good. They put no load on the system and in fact are an important component in my tank husbandry. I like it when some body else does the housekeeping.
