renman303
My chiller died the other day..."Current", 1/3 hp. I have a 225 gallon tank. I'm looking for a new chiller that is a bit more effecient than this model. Maybe I don't need one as big if it's a better unit?..... Any suggestions/prices? Need it soon as my tank is 85-86 degrees! Sherita
Can't help with the chiller, but you can bring the temp down by setting up some fans to blow across the top of the water. Also, change up your light cycle and run at night when it's cooler. If the situation gets really out of hand, float ziplock bags full of ice in your sump to drop the temp. Good luck, this is a bad time of year for heat issues.
ATXJayhawk
Someone is selling a 1/4 hp used in the hardware forum for a decent price.
Timfish
+1 on what Sherita said especially the fans. You do get a lot more evaporation but fans and good ventilation should keep the tank temperature close to the average ampient temperature of the room. I have kept a tank in my greenhouse at 80 even with 100+ in july and August.
Juiceman
I froze a few bottles of RODI water and put them in my 90 gallon each night and it drops it down very well. I use and 1/3 JBJ on my 200 and it does great!
