jaggedfire
I have never seen a split first hand. Is that what is happening here?
JamesL
Sounds likes it. I have seen my purple mushrooms attach to two different spots, then "tear" themselves apart.
George Monnat Jr
My big metallic orange mushroom now has a tiny one next to it. It doesn't look like it "split" since the first one didn't get any smaller, unless a tiny piece was ripped off to make a new one. Do they split at the mouth like anemones? jaggedfire
Sorry about no pic. My internet decided to take a vacation as I was posting. This should give some more insight.
jaggedfire
@JamesL: That is what this looks like. This started about 4 hrs after I upped the alkalinity a bit.
jaggedfire
@George: I have had many of my mushrooms send out 'legs' and reproduce. This looks like it is ripping iteslf apart...almost like someone cut it partially in two. Really cool! I hope
jaggedfire
Well, it is almost done. Split down the center but I only saw a mouth on the left one. Interesting that this is the only one to do this as I had two....now three.
+etannert
Both of mine just did it, one right after the other. Time to sell some green hairy mushrooms!
JamesL
They will heal up and form new mouths. Congrats on the additions!
Bannerfish
That's really neat. I don't think I've seen mine split like that but I've had them scoot over a bit and leave 4-5 pieces of their feet behind which then turn into little baby mushrooms.
