Jimbo662
Got a couple of new additions. Couldn't get a good pic of the tri-color I picked up from Johnny or the Undata I picked up at Aquatek. They had a "Saturday special" in one of the frag tanks and picked up a piece for $10. The tang is only about 2" long.
kmacc05
Do feather dusters and other tube worms do anything? I would like some for aesthetics but they seem to be kind of pricey from the ones ive seen at lfs. Beautiful setup by the way! Looks amazing
Jimbo662
Thanks. Aquatek had one more like this one for $20. They're filter feeders. Here's a little better pic of my other duster. I've had it about a month and the crown has grown at least an 1/8".
kmacc05
Filter feeding is just how they eat.... Does that have any benefit for the tank?
Jimbo662
it probably has a very teeny tiny effect on the tank as it's taking food out of the water column that would normally contribute to water quality.
kmacc05
Oh ok. Tank is looking good. Looking forward to seeing the progress!
Jimbo662
Well, right after I posted about the feather duster it dropped it's crown and it was crawling 1-2 inches out of the tube and would go back down. Several days later I noticed the tube was very flexible and waving in the current. I pulled it up and noticed a hole about 2 1/2 inches from the top. I'm assuming it made an escape to somewhere else in the tank. I've added a few new tenants to the tank over the last two weeks. I forgot to take a pick of the blasto. Can anyone ID the coral in #163? I can almost never remember the names by the time I get them home!
FarmerTy
Looks like an alveopora to me James. They are the hardier and easier to keep version of goniporas. Mine likes medium flow and medium light. I have it on the sandbed in an area where detritus likes to settle in my tank and it's been doing great. -Ty

Yeah, I thought it was soooo cool and different from the regular firefish. two days I had it the heads were only extended about 1/4". I was shocked this morning when the lights came on and they were extended over an inch.
FarmerTy
Mine extend roughly 2-3 inches when the light is on. Goniopora and alveopora are my most coveted corals... that and fungia plates. Very nice specimen you have James. -Ty
