Warlock
i have seen a bunch of LED DIY fixtures made for REEF tanks.. but my question.. if i wanted to light up a 20 gallon HIGH, no plants.. just fish.. would this be practical.. whether it hangs or just rests on tank lid thanks.. skip
+Jakedoza
I wouldn't think so.. I mean, they do look good and add glisten to the tank. I think the cost out weighs the reasoning for using them. Fish only freshwater.. stick a cheap fluorescent light up there and you are good.. This is only my opinion though.. Don't hate me.
jestep
The cheaper marineland LED's are suitable for non planted FW. They should last a long time as well.
Bettascapes
Aquatek has some beautiful NON planted Led lighted tanks. I love them, led provides an awesome shimmering effect! IMO the stronger the individual bulb is the better the shimmer. I've seen some super cheap LED outdoor floodlights on Ebay, $20 for 20w LED light aint to bad. Timfish
I would think some of the LED strips would work ok also. You might also look at the LED ribbon lights.
Teresa
I just added a 3ft LED strip light to my 4 gallon pea puffer tank. I got it off ebay for $20. Supposed to be 6500k and 250 lumens/ft. I'm hoping it will let me keep some plants alive. I should know by the time of the August meeting and you can all see it then .
