+Jakedoza
Here is a good read on what you should look for in a camera and what will suit your needs.. Long, but good read. http://www.theverge.com/2012/1/2/2663464/camera-buyers-guide
jestep
Great article. I think it could be better if it gave some examples and specific recommendations based on value or reviews, but for it's informational value, it's very good.

George Monnat Jr
I'm needing to replace my 8-yr-old camera. That article was good but bummed me out as I want the "$2,000 - infinity" cameras now. Anyone recommend a good camera for taking DT shots for $200 or less?
Drew Mendez WTR
Are you looking for a digital SLR, or just a digital camera I have a Nikon D-40 entry and this one http://shop.panasonic.com/shop/model/DMC-ZS10A works great
+Jakedoza
Can't get a DSLR for $200... At least not new.. You would be looking at an average Point and Shoot at that price.. Check out Craigslist in the photo section. -Jake
victoly
youre probably looking at ~300-400 for a decent used entry level dslr with kit lens. http://tinyurl.com/7hy95m9
jestep
There was a deal on ebay 3 days ago for a brand new Canon T3 with a decent lens for $350 shipped. I should have thrown down for it. It's entry level but a pretty solid camera.
+Jakedoza
I wouldn't trust ebay... It may be counterfeit.. Your best prices will be from Amazon.. Probably B&H photo out of NY.. or look on Craigslist.. always find out where the camera was first purchased and research that company.. There is a ton of Canon stuff being counterfeited.. Not sure on other brands. -Jake
George Monnat Jr
Thanks for the info. I'll have to keep an eye out. As with all things reef related, I need patience. If we get this next contract and my job is saved, then I can probably spring for a good one (probably not $2k good).
