Juiceman
What type of puffer is that? I didn't realize any were reef safe!? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk It's a porcupine puffer. Mine doesn't mess with anything. They normally feed on inverts. I think mine behaves because I keep him fat! Lol

Juiceman
Update time. There's been some big changes. I plumbed in a 60g 36x18 tank to become my LPS, Nem, Paly, etc tank. Here it is in it's current state: (My old lights from the 200 and from the Octopus tank) It was split off my Mag 12 for the chiller which acts as it's return and it's overflow is plumbed directly into the right overflow of my 200. Couple of shots for you: Currently fighting bryopsis. I'm dosing the crap out of Tech-M which was reccomended by Ty. And I woke up to a water covered floor one morning when a snail had gone down the overflow and blocked it. Otherwise, just running out of space again..... grrrrr!
Juiceman
On to the 200. I added anther rock scape to work with. Some more SPS pieces. I switched to all XBR BML fixture. 1 Super Actinic, 1 20K (Radium), and 1 12K. I had to move the Puffer into the 60. He took a liking to Clam Mantles.......No sir! Achilles is doing good, No Problems. I got the Blonde Naso and Yellow Belly Hippo from Niko's. Got the Magnificent Foxface and Achilles from Divers Den. Everyone is getting along great. I forsee a Sohal being added to the 200 and a Powder Brown being added to the 60.
Juiceman
A rough update but this is where I'm at right now...... Trying to pinpoint what cause a lot of issues with my SPS. Ironically it really only affected my Largest Colonies.... *That MG at the top should read 1475* Here's a log of my parameters. I suspect my phosphates and Alk to be the issue as I've been fighting with my GFO reactor and my Solenoid on the CARX. What do you guys think? jolt
I agree alk looks low at first and phosphates consistently high. Also, those readings are too far apart to tell what kind of alk swings you might have had.

Also, those readings are too far apart to tell what kind of alk swings you might have had. I try to keep it at 7.00 with the coral having issues my Alk started rising due to not being used. I have a fail safe in my Apex to let me know odd Ph changes. I've been noticing that my solenoid has been not opening when turned to the "on" position at times. Usually I have to turn the switch off and on again and it will start working correctly. I don't know if the APEx is the issue or the solenoid itself. FarmerTy
Work has been owning me so I only got a quick glance at this Juiceman but I'd highly bet it's exactly what you said, alk and PO4 swings. Solenoids will go out eventually. I'd stop playing with that one, order another one... actually order two just to have one ready to swap next time. If I had to take a guess of which of the 2 parameters did it, I'd lean towards your phosphate getting above 0.18 ppm. That's when I noticed big time STN on my colonies back in my old tank. The swinging alk probably just tipped the scales. So, get another reactor other than those BRS ones and run your GFO consistently. Get a new solenoid and get your Carx in line. That should take care of everything. And drop off your water so I can do a double check for you.

And I actually still have the old one that didn't have any issues.. haha. The Regulator was the issue previously. Suggestions on a new GFO reactor? Juiceman
I have some Phosguard, should I get it dropped down first, then Maintain with GFO? Maybe the issue is that the GFO could never drop it, just maintain it?
Reburn
Juiceman, I have a IM Minimax "Midsize" reactor that in saving for my build. It will hold 34 tbs of high capacity GFO while only filling half the reactor. I haven't test ran it. Your welcome to give it a shot and try it to see if you like it before you haul off and buy one. Juiceman
I should also add that all that work I did with Hydraulic Cement has been a fail. Almost every Unnaturally stacked piece has broken.
victoly
sorry to see this rory i concur with the others. low alk (plus swings) and phosphate. Your cal also looked super high (not that it was the culprit, just noting).

Thus why I started using Red Sea. which is reading at 480 at the most.
