Toxiq Reef
A mouse pad in the water? Between pump and glass? Odd
jestep
What brand/model of pump is it? Some of them have suction-cup anti vibration mounts that you can purchase separately.
pbnj
Those foam pads that are used in sump baffles or that blue/white foam padding that is used in wet/dry filters.
mFrame
A mouse pad in the water? Between pump and glass? Odd I used a black mouse pad when i started my 90g and would advise against it. After a year it started disintegrating and was a mess to clean up. I found one at marinedepot that is blue and white, it works great. I can't find the specific link but you're looking for something like this: http://www.marinedepot.com/Anti_Vibration_Noise_Dampening_Pump_Pad_for_Dolphin_Pump_Accessories_for_External_Water_Pumps-Dolphin_Aquarium_Pet-DP2911-FIWPEPAC-vi.html
FarmerTy
Mike, Thanks for the input on the mouse pad, I was actually about to throw one in there.
DerrickH
Wouldnt a good sponge do the same thing? I bought a roll of foam padding like you would put in your kitchen drawers thats black and pretty thin under my sump. It keeps all the resonance down from inside the sump due to my skimmer pump, chiller/reactor pump, and main external return pump. Even with external pump, the plumbing can transmit sound into the sump and then the sump acts like a "horn" and adds low frequency to it making it annoying. Hope this helps. A sponge though would be ideal in my opinion.
