Mindflux
Anyone use any poly pillow batting in place of filter floss? this seems to be a popular/cheaper replacement as long as it's 100% poly with no flame/mold inhibitors/retardants. I need some new filter media for my solana, the foam block I have now keeps falling down into from the filter location (this is a dumb design) and requires me to get out a step ladder and lean over my tank to get it out of the back chamber area. +KimP
I used it forever with my freshwater tanks. Much cheaper but also finer, so it filled up faster. If I used filter floss on my saltwater tank, I would still use batting.
jestep
I use big al's filter floss roll. I got a huge roll of it for cheap. I'm guaranteed it is nothing but a poly sheet. http://www.bigalsonline.com/Filter-Floss_9385217_82.html?green=26693386837&tc=fish I have read a lot of bad stories about poor quality floss, even floss that supposedly is 100% poly with nothing else. In theory it should work fine, but I would not risk a tank on a couple dollar product from walmart or wherever.
