wa1tx
Really can not find any info on using this in a reef tank. My father-in-law gave me these pieces for my tank and I am reluctant to use them. Any reason not to? Would it work just like live rock?
+KimP
I hope nothing's wrong with it I've been using dead acro for great hitching posts for years (I didn't kill it ). Do you know if they were coral and they just died and were pulled out, or were they treated and intended for use as a house decoration? wa1tx
He used to own a pet store a long time ago. It is left over from his store. Other than it has been in his shed for 10 years I don't have any history on it.
JasonJones
There is no problem with using it as long as there are no chemicals in it. I would soak it in a weak bleach solution and then put it in RO water for a few days and test for copper. If you don't detect anything, I would put the pieces in one at a time over a couple of weeks and watch for any adverse effects.
+KimP
I'm sure others will know for certain if it's okay, but I just wanted to add that they are beautiful so I hope you're able to use them!

mFrame
I think Jason's advice is spot on, assuming they don't test for copper I wouldn't see a problem with adding them a piece at a time. They'll be gorgeous once they're covered in coraline.
Wildman926
I use that kind of stuff as filler in my sump with the live rock. As long as it tests clean, you are good to go.
