Rjohn
I have read on here about coral dipping. I don't do it but I should. What should I use to prevent unwanted things from getting into my tank? What is your preferred dip recipe?
Robb in Austin
I've not dipped before but a lot of folks use Tropic Marin's Pro Coral Cure. I've also read that Two Little Fishies Revive is a good one. Do a lot of research before doing anything, some types can take a dip, some cannot. Gonzobob
Dang it! I'll miss the chat. I've used both Revive and Lugol's for prophylactic and Lugol's for treatment dips.

mikedelgado
dipping is good and all but if you are not quaranteening afterwards you might as well not bother dipping as the only nasties I can think of that there isnt a in tank solution for lay eggs that are not affected by dipping.(monti eating nudis/acro eating flatworms). Rjohn
How long do you need to quarantine a new coral?
stoneroller
For zoanthids, I use a RO water bath with a little Lugol's or SeaChem ReefDip. I'll let them soak for a few minutes and then inspect every polyp I can for nudi eggs or other hanger-onners. 2x readers, good lights, tweezers, and a magnifying glass. For others (LPS and SPS) I first use tank water w/Revive and then into tank water w/ReefDip. I see more critters (snails, starfish, pods, etc.) die quicker with the iodine-based dips than with the Revive. My hard coral treatment is likely not sufficient for killing redbugs or nudi eggs. mikedelgado
I'm not sure to be honest.I would guess about a month. Time to let any eggs hatch that passed thru the dipping process and even more time for observation is needed before you can truely deem something pest free. stoneroller
I don't have a tank for such. It's risky but what are you gonna do? I have a softy tank that would be inadequate for LPS and SPS. I trust that I get all of the zoa pests.

Crab Rangoon
...a lot of folks use Tropic Marin's Pro Coral Cure... This, and Lugols, are all I have experience with using first hand. I suggest PCC over a batch of Lugols water, though. Two Little Fishies Revive is a good one. Everything I've read as of late points directly to this, and only this. Certainly worth a shot - even seen people doing this with AEFW's. adding an external source for more info, to save me from citing hear-say: http://www.cmas-md.org/forums/showthread.php?t=63585 Edited April 9, 2010 by Crab Rangoon
absolut_racer
I use a cocktail of Two Little Fishies ReVive, Interceptor, and Salifert Flatworm Exit.
