MikeB
My tank has been set up for about 7 weeks and I thought things were going well. I went on a business trip and when I came back the tank was full of brown algae... I was told this is part of the cycling process and just keep doing weekly water changes with RO water..any other advise? Should I try to remove the algae from the substate and aquarium walls? It looks terrible! Mike
AquaJohn
I just went through this with my set up and it did not really help to scrub stuff till the cycle was almost over . While it was making the diatoms <sp> its not actualy algae they come back so fast it was pointless to scrub . Good thing was it only lasted 4-5 days. I hope you have a clean up crew in there becaues the green algae and hair algae come next and spread kind of fast if you dont have stuff that eats it.
