    Red Goni

So for those that have had a red goni for over a year, where do you have it placed? Hi, middle, or low in the tank? Flow? I have the encrusting red type, which is supposedly a lot easier to care for. It's happy mid tank right now, on the edge of the metal halide, with indirect flow and the flow it gets from the wavemaker.
  3. +1 on the no lights. I wouldn't even add anything for 2 months at least, except for maybe a piece of shrimp to jump start your bacteria in your tank. If you could get somebody's water from their water change and put it in your tank, plus some sand from their sandbed, it would jump start this process a bit and make it run quicker. I know it's no fun to wait but this hobby is one of patience and slow changes. My 2 cents for what it's worth.
  4. PM'ed for the Phosban Reactor
  5. Oh sorry aquagirl, my goof. I already have the scroll coral. I'm just used to it being called a scroll coral and not a cup coral but both terms apply.
  6. Maybe interested in the cup coral when I see a pic. LMK! -Ty
  7. How many lbs of liverock do you have total?
  8. Have two brand new pumps, $15 bucks a pop, just looking to get what I paid for them. Thanks. -Ty
  9. I didn't even think about that. I guess it would allow for more water to rush in lowering my water level as a result. Thanks Caferacermike. -Ty
  10. Mike, Guess that was an important detail. Yes, water will be in the tank but it can be lowered to about halfway down.
  11. I'm looking to lower my water level in the display tank. What is the easiest way to cut the teeth down on the overflow to do this? I've researched dremel attachments and hand files. I do have a router attachment for my dremel as well. -Ty
  12. After seeing his tank in person, the pics do no justice. It's a great tank.
  13. Sweet. Congrats PBNJ! I'm running the same process myself and got my nitrates below 1ppm and phosphates down to .035ppm (ultra-low PO4 checker). Happy day!
  14. Google "refugium mod nanocube" and you'll get plenty of examples. On the back glass on the nanocube, it is covered in this black vinyl. It is on the outside of the tank, not inside, just for clarification. You just take a blade a cut it off so that you can look from the back of the tank directly into the middle chamber. It's like looking into the middle chamber through a window by the time you're done with it. Then, add a light, some chaeto, and you have an instant refugium.
  15. I'd be happy to give you some chaetomorpha (macroalgae most use in refugiums) when you are ready
  16. Since you have a nanocube, you could set up a refugium really easy by cutting off the back vinyl (if you haven't already) and putting a cheap $10 clip on bulb (Home Depot) to light it at night on an opposite schedule of your main lights. This will allow your system to grow macroalgae in an area where you don't want to see it and decrease your nitrates and phoshates at the same time. Plus, you get a nice pod farm as well.
  17. I'll take it MasonHoff, My tangs will devour that stuff. Let me know when I can pick up. -Ty
  18. Yeah, they def fluoresce in actinics so they got something else to them. My lunars def don't do that. They're pretty sweet. -Ty
  19. Yeah, does look like a morph on 2nd look. The mouths are green, though the rest look on par with the lunar eclipse.
  20. Yeah, I got it in there and it took just a little adjusting but has been spot on since. Hope you had the same success. Yeah, I can't wait for this anemone to split, it's got such sweet coloration.
  21. I'll take the 2 fighting conchs. Pm'ed.
  22. Yeah, you just hope all your little coral friends like what you're giving them! I have the plusrite's myself too. But I don't want to hijack his thread. So I'll stop at that.
