  1. Yeah, I was at the engineering fair. There were some consultants there but not a bunch.
  2. How much left do we need to qualify for free shipping?
  3. Gig'em, I work in environmental consulting as well. You missed our first round of hiring this year, we picked up a T-sip and a couple of Rice folks. I was at the A&M career fair at Rudder looking for perspective graduates this past Spring. We're looking to expand in the Austin office but we probably won't be hiring anymore until the Fall I would imagine. Send me your resume if you want as well and I'll hang on to it for the next round of hiring. I have a friend at the TCEQ as well. He says way more boring but a lot less stressful and also less travel. Of course, it helps that his wife makes good money so he's not there for the money. -Ty
  4. Ahhh, good catch Woods. I was skimming back through and missed that.
  5. Did you transfer all your corals and fish from another tank or did you pick all that up in the last 12 DAYS!!!!???? Looks sweet!
  6. Just keep in mind Regal Plastic has a $25 minimum purchase amount. I walked into there to just ask if they carry Weldon and some guy made a snooty comment about $25 being the minimum purchase... and questioned if I was going to buy a large container of it. I know I look like I'm a poor college student but jeez... maybe I can manage $25 from my allowance my parents give me...
  7. This is a gorgeous tank setup. Perfect height to view without bending down and great depth for visual immersion.Don't forget to give details about your lighting setup. This thing is basically in "just add liverock and livestock" ready mode. I'd get it myself just to change dimensions on my 125-gallon but the girlfriend would kill me!
  8. I thought it was a pretty interesting article myself. It's always good to see hard science back some of the products out there. Though one article isn't the definitive word but the experiment results were interesting nonetheless. Rodney, when you get into SPS, we'll talk amino acids.
  9. Hey Daniel, Hit you up about the Calcium reactor. LMK. Thanks. -Ty
  10. I went back and forth with the idea of adding UV to my system. Hydro Innovations gave some great pro's for using UV but I ended not buying one because of the potential to kill the "good" as well as the "bad". I have three tangs in my system. I feed frozen food and nori soaked with garlic one/twice a week and that keeps the ich monster at bay. I have never had an outbreak, though when the tangs first were put in the system they all got a small infection of ich. Nothing major, just a couple spots here and there. I figure ich is inherent in my system, just like cyano will always be (it's always waiting for the right opportunity to flourish). If I can naturally keep it at bay, then I will aim to do that instead of adding additional equipment to remedy. Plus with all the frag trading and water from other systems, I'd be crazy to think I can keep an entirely sterile tank with no ich or anything else in the water. If I can keep the conditions that it favors most at a minimum, then I don't have a problem anymore. Just my 2 cents. -Ty
  11. Here's the original thread... personally I wouldn't risk with fish, but who knows. http://web1.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1965880
  12. Hey Caleb, Let me know when you are ordering. I am interested in getting the exact same bulbs as you are so whether it's a group buy or just us two splitting shipping to get the bulbs, count me in. Thanks! -Ty
  13. I would much prefer a deeper tank as well. I do like the panorama of the 6' long tank I have but to have height and depth would help me get lost in the world a little more. With the 6', it's like I'm looking at a picture of coral instead of looking into the ocean. I feel like that's what height and depth give you.
  14. Welcome! Looks like you've done your research and put a lot of thought into the tank setup already. You're plenty of steps ahead of your average beginner! You're doing it right with the slowly adding. If you can maintain that speed of adding slowly, you can maintain that delicate balance you have already in the tank. Good luck and blast questions whenever you have them! -Ty
  15. Thanks guys. Since finding bulbs in 60" is more difficult than your standard 48", I've decided to go 48". I'll live without the extra 12". I traded with a local member for a T5 setup. Thanks for everyone's input and thanks for the offer H20Cool.
  16. http://www.coralscience.org/main/articles/nutrition-6/amino-acids Thought this experiment was interesting. Guess I was doing right by dosing during the day... would have been cool if I had some real basis for doing it that way other than dumb luck. -Ty
  17. Short summary of an experiment on LED and LEP for coral aquaculture. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/light-emitting-diode-led-and-light-emitting-plasma-lep-found-to-be-highly-suitable-for-coral-aquaculture
  18. Kim, I'll take it if nobody has dibs on it. -Ty
  19. Tail should heal, my guess is the clownfish is the culprit. Feed nori soaked with garlic to hippo. Either way, you should feed it some nori even though the hippo tangs have more of a meatier diet in the wild. The thing to watch for with hippos is ich. The garlic soaked nori should help though.
  20. Haha, hilarious. My friends always tell me they love the star polyps.
  21. I'll tell the officer I'm just a victim... ARC has stolen my precious time and money for the last 5-6 years!
  22. Got a FTS sitting around? I like drooling over pretty tanks...
  23. My order is already in and paid for too. Can you bring it to work and I'll grab it on my lunch break? Thanks! -Ty
