  1. That's all the evidence I need. Thanks bud!
  2. Wanted to throw it out here first before I did it. Anybody know if there will be any issues with turning a large tank (215 gals with 3/4" glass) on its side? I know that will put most of the weight on the silicone seals versus where it normally is on the bottom with the glass on top of glass interface. I am attempting a leak repair and want to turn it on its side to remove the whole pane of glass and that makes it easier when its on its side so I can cut away the bottom trim and would also help when I reseal it as gravity would compress it for me. Thoughts?
  3. Same here. Guess its time for some removable cross braces!
  4. That's interesting. Hadn't thought about removable front braces. With the open architecture on my steel stand, I figured I could just pull it out the side. I guess the limiting factor would be the length of the room and if you had the ability to even pull it out the side. May have to talk to Jeremy about doing the same on my stand. Great idea.
  5. Looks great bud. Once those sps colonies grow in on the tops of those rocks, its going to be killer! Great aquascaping. I want to do something similar in my tank. Is that giant green goni the one I gave you to save or a different one? Its giant! Sounds like you invited darth vader to the video recording... and he was building you a new stand in the background. Lol.
  6. James, Out of curiosity, what type of sand were you using in your tank?
  7. That should put us at 44 pumps confirmed so far... and they will order when we have 48. Jaggedfire, Mframe, Lenver, Mike Brown, if you guys order soon if you haven't already, we should have the numbers for them to go ahead and move forward with the order.
  8. Sent my email and money for 2 pumps as well.
  9. Hi all, Along the same lines as the WP40 group buy with the Phoenix Reefers Community, they are still taking orders for the WP25 until they reach 48 pumps ordered. I believe they are about 10 pumps back on placing the order. Several have shown interest in the WP25 so I wanted to post here for directions on how to order. Contact one of the two organizers below. Shipping is $12.35 for one pump and $16.85 for two pumps shipped. Basically, pair up if you are only ordering one pump and send one payment to the organizer and an email with the information requested below. If you are ordering two pumps, just order by yourself. Currently on their facebook page, it looks their pricing is as follows (please confirm with the organizers): $55 - 1 unit $52.50 - 2 units $50 - 3+ units *** plus shipping https://www.facebook.com/notes/phoenix-reefers-community/jebao-group-buy-open/171797243000234 Again, just contact one of the organizers to order or if you have any questions. 10. Going with the same substrate this time around. I had some finer sand before and was happy with it but with two WP40s blasting in a predominately SPS tank, I am going with the 1-2mm grain size this time. Plus, it's nice to have the included buffering capacity of the aragonite. I ordered 160 lbs from petsmart for around $125 with shipping included with their free shipping promotion. It will give me a good 2-3" sandbed. The stand I have is 40" but I am not tall so it might just be perfect. Mine is in line behind yours. Jeremy is in a stand building frenzy!
  11. That stand is looking sweet! Jeremy, you have no idea how to sit still... do you? Haha. Offshore, did you already order your substrate? What are you doing with? And how tall is that stand you are having Jeremy make? Looks awesome!
  12. Want to see what that looks like for sure. May steal ideas from you for my own canopy!
  13. Trim is staying in place. The tank will be sitting on a 40" high stand and the tank itself is 28" tall so I am building an enclosed canopy... or else run the risk of being blinded by 3 x 400 watts of MH lighting. What a way to go out! Hmmm... what frequency for the pumps would you set the Apex on for whirlpool?
  14. I might have missed it in the description but you planning on building a canopy for it? Will it be a floating canopy or sit on top? Always thought about suspending one from the ceiling but not sure I have the skills to make it look nice and not slapped up there.
  15. Kipf, I don't have control over the timing as it is being run out of Arizona. All I know is once we hit the magic number 48, it's go time. And last I knew, we were around 42-44. You can probably hit up the organizer directly for a better estimate of time. His contact info is in the thread.
  16. Water Changes??? Water Changes? Don't talk about... water changes. You kidding me... water changes??? (in my best Jim Mora voice)
  17. Free splash in the hot tub for first 10 people who buy frags! I was amazed at the 215 when I went to go pick it up from a Craigslist ad. Popped up there with money in hand and a Uhaul truck without ever seeing it. What a great surprise! Dumb luck still feels great when its happening to you... even though you don't deserve it! Haha. MH for sure... would love to get some T5s on it as well to customize the color a bit but MH will be main lighting. I may even kick it up and go 400 watt as my ballasts are all adjustable from 250-400. Gotta love those cheap plusrite bulbs! Thanks for the compliment RobR.
  18. Best surprise I had all week was seeing small bags of BRS GFO at RCA. Kudos to their establishment.
  19. Was planning on doing the same, leaving the back with enough room to go back there and clean the glass. I'm not fooling myself anymore, coraline algae on the backwall is not a good backdrop to look at. I don't see many Tanks of the Month with coraline on their back glass. Haha.
  20. Got you on the list bud. You'll need to find someone to pair up with. I know MFrame was thinking of ordering just one pump I believe.
  21. That's good to know Mike! Alternatively, they have instructions on paying as a seller transaction through Paypal but you'd be responsible for the fees involved.
  22. Thanks Sacha! Hey man, we all started somewhere. You were way farther along than I ever was at the beginning of my saltwater journey. Your tank is looking great and will look amazing once everything starts growing in and filling it out. Your aquascaping still beats anything I could ever put together with rocks... I wish there were like aquascaping professionals out there so I could just hire someone. Chromis are doing great. They've established their pecking order and I forgot what the instant affect of adding chromis does to your tank... overnight it turns it into a saltwater community, versus just a couple of fish randomly swimming in a glass box. I lost 3 chromis during QT as those three decided to just slowly break away from the pack and hide until they died. As crazy as it is, I think chromis get the reputation of being easy fish to keep since they are cheap but with territorial fighting and their high metabolisms, they are a little harder to maintain as a group than most would think. For me, my theory is to treat them like anthias... multiple small feedings per day to keep aggression down and to keep up with their higher metabolisms. I kept a group of 7 alive for 1.5 years but slowly over that time, they would die off one by one. Wasn't sure if that was due to territorial elimination over time or perhaps I wasn't feeding enough for their likes. I'll report back how long I can keep these 7 alive. Both times I bought them, I started with a higher number and immediately dwindled to 7 and stayed there for a bit. So for my tank at least, 7 is the magic number. Just in case people were looking, was at Aquatek yesterday and they had a bunch of smaller chromis for $5/specimen. They also had giant one's for I think $15 in another tank. I may look into buying just one very large one as I heard if there is a truly dominant one in the pack (he's like 3x bigger than my current one's), the rest fall in line and don't fight as much. Maybe hearsay but I might be willing to try it out.
  23. I keep leaning to the blue background for my tank upgrade. Looks great man!
