  1. Thanks Timfish, couldn't have said it better myself.
  2. If they are only bleached, they should recover just fine Clark. If you see them receding, then that is a different story.
  3. Just let them be, they are beneficial unless you consider them unsightly. I typically see them more towards the early life of a tank and they seem to just naturally decline as the tank ages... at least in my own personal experience.
  4. Looks like a pineapple sponge to me.
  5. That skimmer looks better than any coral colony I have!
  6. I'm jealous James, that setup is going to be awesome!
  7. The six line will compete for food. He will eat amphipods and copepods. Amphipods are the larger shrimp like animals and copepods are tiny white specks on your glass usually. Mandarins have been observed to eat one pod every 10 seconds. For QT, I play it by ear, but somewhere in the range of 2-4 weeks, depending in how quickly they get used to my feedings and if any diseases are observed.
  8. Just a heads up, a sampler Reefs2go pod pack came in with our last group buy and there were no copepods in the bag, just a ton of amphipods. Your mandarin will not eat the amphipods as they are too big. Perhaps some baby ones will get gobbled up but I wouldn't count on that pod pack to be a major source of food for the mandarin. If they sell a copepod specific pack, then ignore this. Just wanted to mention just in case.

    Greetings!

    Welcome to the club!
  10. Woohoo! I'll be the one spinning the Niko's Reef sign out in front of his store! I've been working on flipping it 360 degrees into the air, as I spin around twice and catch it in my teeth.
  11. My setup is similar to Woods and I have found it very effective.
  12. Niko's Reef will be the sole distributor of TT acro colonies. Just kidding. Alright, we're jamming up his Jaebo thread! Sorry Niko!
  13. Uh, everyone who buys or sells a house through me, a free Jaebo pump of your choice, sponsored by Niko's reef! Everyone wins! Yay!
  14. Looking good already Niko. Let's aim for my birthday (Jan 2) as the opening day, that'll be a good birthday gift. Thanks bud! I appreciate your nice gesture. You're the best! Haha.
  15. With my sump, the detritus collects in the middle chamber so it works best if I just let it settle there instead of increasing the flow with a powerhead. If I had a liverock only chamber I may put a power head in there to keep the flow up. So, it just depends on your application. I never felt the need to tumble chaeto though I heard that it does benefit from it.
  16. All great advice here on the T5s. I've been a little out of the game with T5s but was a fan of running 2 coral+, 1 blue+, and one purple+. I didn't notice the GHA issue Bpb noticed with the purple+ but I definitely felt it helped enhance the red coloration in my tank. I am still a big fan of T5 for an SPS dominant tank but cost of replacing bulbs ultimately had me decide on MH as my lighting choice. Still can't beat those $13 plusrite bulbs.
  17. Spongodes was my guess as well.
  18. Nice, wish I was your neighbor so I can walk over and borrow a cup of Rowaphos. Tank is looking good Tim! Come get your frag!

    Id me

Looks like zoa eating nudis to me but hard to tell with pic. I'd take a flashlight and stare at your zoa colonies at night to see if you see them eating your zoas.
  20. Great kit. That's what I use for testing on my tank.
  21. I would think your best bet is to get the full version Apex with the built-in variable dimmer module (VDM). That'll allow you to dim your LEDs and control them directly with the Apex. You could then also buy the wireless Vortech module that'll let you control your MP10 via the Apex as well. It's going to cost some coin to get everything but totally worth it for the control. security, and ease to manage your tank.
