  1. Thanks Victoly! I was able to get in touch with the family. They are hanging in there and are leaning on each other for support during this difficult time. I dropped off the food to them this afternoon and they will make good use of it. I confirmed the funeral service details with the family and Frances had it down perfectly. Details Time: 3:00-4:30pm Date: March 19th (Wednesday) Attire: Please wear a button up white shirt if possible Location: The service will be held at the Cook-Walden capital parks funeral home. Cook-Walden Funeral Home 14501 North IH 35 Pflugerville, TX 78660 For all those that are planning to attend, please post in this thread saying you are. They requested for us to bring white balloons to release at the end of the ceremony. I will pick up white balloons tomorrow for everyone planning to attend once I know the amount of people coming. Let me know if you have any other questions! Thanks, Ty
  2. If someone is willing to spearhead the frag plug idea, and get me all the frag plugs, I'd be happy to get it to the family. I'd imagine this will take longer than tomorrow for the service so we can just give it to them when we receive all the donations and give them the cash and the frag plugs at the same time. Let me know if someone is willing to do that. Great idea Victoly!
  3. Just a heads up, they have poor survival rates. If you are lucky enough to get one eating and he makes it through the first couple of months, he's golden! That's why I jumped all over Offroaddodge's CBB.
  4. Madsalt! Take your monti talk out of here! Just kidding. How else best to follow up a pod city video but with coffee? I'm assuming the coffee pods they use for those single serve coffee makers set it off. The copperband butterfly was from Offroaddodge's tank. It's awesome! Certified aiptasia eater too, he destroyed one right in front of me. If you go back a couple of pages in my thread, you can see it for yourself. He has not bothered my mini-carpet anemones or my two rbta's. I have two cleaner shrimps in the tank that he has swam up to get his cleaning and has never once tried to eat them afterwards.
  5. Thank you Viet-Tin. I'm going to PM you to coordinate dropping off the food to the family as well as the cash once we receive all the donations. Thank you!
  6. For a community who by definition almost always has to take things painfully slow, this response developed beautifully and very quickly. Thanks for spearheading Ty. Well said my friend. Jeremy, I have added your words as I feel the family would be very happy to read it. Thank you for sharing.
  7. It's magnetic and has a larger hole for the temp probe. Just too pricey for me for something that's going to be caked in salt creep and hidden in my sump anyways.
  8. Quick update, food will be ready in about 1-2 hrs and I will drop it by the house. I will also ask about funeral services and will update when I have any information. Thank you all!
  9. Agreed. I talked to my mom and she said food and cash is best. So, I have already ordered the food. Plenty of stir fry noodles, fried rice, and egg rolls to feed a ton of family. About as much as I ordered for my rehearsal dinner for my wedding and that fed about 80+ people. Cost is $190, I will deduct from the donations and pay the rest myself. Any additional funds will be allocated to cash to be delivered to his family once everyone has donated. My mom said flowers are nice if the family is well off since they don't need money. But I feel that cash would be much useful right now for Tim's family because I'm sure he had his share of medical bills up to this point as well. Again, you can Paypal me at [email protected] and I will collect and distribute to his family. Thank you all for you generosity and compassion to Tim's family at this difficult time for them.
  10. George, feel free to Paypal me. if we get an official fund started by El Jefe (Mframe), then I can transfer it to that one. Either way, 100% is going to his family to help with funeral expenses, food, etc...
  11. Also, please PM if you have anything of his that you would like to get back to his famiily. I will offer to help keep his tank going until they decide what they want to do with it. I know his little brother keeps a tank too so I imagine he will continue to run the tank but if they just want to sell everything, I will offer assistance in selling his stuff. Thank you all for your kindness!
  12. Hi everyone, I am going to drop by in the next few hours to the house and was going to bring a copy of this thread printed up as a token of the impact he had on this board. I may just cut out all the funeral service and customs stuff and just leave in the parts of us talking of our memories of him and his impact on this board. I will try to find out any funeral arrangement stuff I can for those that wish to attend and I will grab some flowers and some food to drop off for the family. Btw, I'm Vietnamese so just follow my lead so you don't have to worry about offending. Donations/contributions can be sent to [email protected] via Paypal (friends and family option) and I will make sure they all get to his family. Mike, if you want to setup something official for collection other than another board member, please feel free and I can transfer whatever has been sent to that fund instead. Thank you all for being so thoughtful and keeping his family in your prayers. -Ty
  13. Gonzo, which monti are you referring to? The twin towers are actually my drain line and my return line in my corner overflow. From there, the eye of Sauron watches for any hints of STN for me. The music in my videos are pulled straight from YouTube's default music library because I got tired of them sending me emails about using copyrighted songs for background music. I thought the crazy upbeat song was appropriate for the pod frenzy going on in there. It beats the sloshing of water and the whine of a return pump. I'm sure I had pods galore in my old sump but this is the first time I've seen them in this capacity at the bottom of my overflows. I was shocked when I first noticed them. I do love how this hobby can still surprise you, even after doing it for so long!
  14. Oh yes, sorry, Tubbs blue zoas. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  15. I thought I was hardcore metal halide but you outdid me and went with the old school magnetic ballasts! I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy! Tank is looking good with water in it! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  16. I'll take the other one if you find it. Just let me know! Thanks! Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  17. Nice! Are those tubbs blues? Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks for the pic Madsalt! Any excuse to oogle a piece of coral. Glad everyone had fun and I appreciate those that held their breath and were respectful of my CO2 levels. Lara, I'm glad you stuck around for the afterparty. Hope you picked up some tidbits of useful information and when you get a chance, start up your build thread so we can all enjoy your journey with you on the tank build. Welcome to the club!
  19. Thanks all for the compliments. It helps keep me going with the tank build. Here's a fun video of what I found in my overflows. Full screen and HD to really get a glimpse of them. That should keep my pair of mandarins happy and fat.
  20. This makes me very sad to hear. Tim was a good friend and was one of the main people who got me hooked on SPS. Probably 50% of my SPS came from him. I was just at his house 2 weeks ago to pick up some frag plugs and to get back the biopellets he borrowed from me. He looked a little thin but I just assumed by the way he was talking about it and his happy-go-lucky attitude when talking to him that he would be just fine. He was a good man and a great contributor to this forum. He will be sorely missed. A part of his legacy will always live on in my tank and those frags will be shared throughout our community. That way he will always live on and will be chasing those reefing dreams forever. Rest in peace my friend. If anybody has any details on his funeral service, please share as I would like to attend if it is open to the public. I will see if I can drop by his family and express our condolences and find out any information about the funeral services.
  21. Yikes, went to a LFS and it was bryopsis city there! That's going to be one tough cleanup!

    1. Planeden

      Planeden

based on my recent frag i have a wager on which one. :)

  22. You're probably better off not having him as your first tang in the tank reeflover. He'd be your only tang! They are quite aggressive and having him at that size and in the tank first is asking for trouble with future tang additions.
  23. If you have an extra one that SChrisEV doesn't want first, I'd be interested in it. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk
