  1. Ditto, I didn't need the temptation. Sent via Tapatalk
  2. Wasn't she planning to be at the frag swap tomorrow? Sent via Tapatalk
  3. Purple bonsai is a valida if I'm not mistaken. I'd let it grow out a bit a you'll probably be able to tell then. Sent via Tapatalk
  4. 1) purple valida 2) mike palettas turquoise lovelli 3) I thought a tricolor valida but you are right about the growth form being different. Sent via Tapatalk
  5. I'll take that chiller if it still works! You got PM.
  6. If it were me, I'd take a ride down the plumbing to the sump and jump from there! Can't keep a good fish down!!!
  7. Blue tangs drive me nuts with that behavior! Good for them that they are so pretty! Sent via Tapatalk
  8. Yikes Ty. I hope it wasn't stinky stagnant water. By the way, the guy who gave you the Deltec must be a really nice guy. This stuff was good and refreshing, like a quick dip in the Cote A'zure... not like that stinky stuff coming out of your tube. That Deltec is still in my garage. That's overkill for anything but your giant tank! You in Monaco? Sent via Tapatalk We were in Monaco today. Came back to Nice since we are staying here for the week. What other CA RX did you pick up? Tomorrow is a dip in the Med. Haven't had a chance yet. Nice man! You'll have to give us the rundown on the musuem. I picked up a reactor off the classfieds, fixed it up, and running it now. 9. Thanks bud! It's all cleaned up now. Just glued the pvc parts on and hope it jambs it up pretty good. Still have 2 hours before she is the wiser. :-) Sent via Tapatalk
  10. Here's the quick rundown: This guy's impeller began rattling and making noises this morning. Then it stalled out right when I was standing in front of the tank. I restarted it twice to no avail so I took it offline, called for warranty services, and they happily are sending me a more updated impeller. Apparently I had an old one. Welcome back you beautiful beast of a pump, the Reeflo Hammerhead gold. I reworked the plumbing and make sure nothing leaked. There seemed to be a slight drip from one of the manifold connections, port 2 to be exact. Enter me, Ty "overtighten" Ta, going in with a plumbers wrench to tighten it up a bit. Snap, pop... 5,550 gallons of water hit me in the chest... what's a guy to do? Well jamb your thumb in it of course! I reached around with my other hand and pulled the plug. I've never felt a firehouse turned on me before but I could imagine it felt a little something like that... okay, maybe way less but that's as close as I ever hope to come to that. I found some pvc parts that may do the trick for me to close off the open port and hopefully can run it normally again for a bit until the impeller gets here next week. Sent via Tapatalk
  11. ahhhh!?!? need any help? i got off early today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Thanks Kevin for the offer. I think I got the parts I needed to rectify my mistake. Hopefully I can get it up and running soon! Sent via Tapatalk

  13. Nothing like getting blasted in the chest with 5,550 gph. Better get this cleaned up before the wife gets home! Off to Lowe's! I'll explain later! Sent via Tapatalk
  14. Yeah, can the people setting up tanks get there a bit earlier so we can setup and allow the corals to settle in and open up before the swap starts? Sent via Tapatalk
  15. Wuhh? 50-head? Did you call no take-backs? Cause I'm calling take-back! Woohoo! I also like to crumble jedi mind trick monti and throw it into my CaRX just to mine the calcium and alkalinity!
  16. In other news, Mothra and Godan decided to wreak havoc on the peaceful town of Zoaville. If by now you guys haven't realized that I've been home sick and getting stir crazy, the random postings just to keep myself entertained should be a key sign. Sent via Tapatalk
  17. You're not real! You're just a shadow in the night in College Station! Who's seen this Bpb person before? :-p Sent via Tapatalk
  18. You can also relocate the urchin. He was mostly on the rocks for me and only occasionally was on the glass. Sent via Tapatalk
  19. I mean, he'll more than likely do the job but the hair algae will just grow back. I was asking the age of the tank to see if it was still maturing or not. Perhaps lowering the amount you feed or the photo period of the lights may help. Is your tank really crowded? Sent via Tapatalk
  20. That urchin you got from me should do it. The sea hare will more than likely wipe it out, die of starvation, and then the algae will come back again after it dies. It's not the best solution. How old is your system? Sent via Tapatalk
  21. Well, I got a used CaRX, fixed it up and decided to run it in the sump because I can't get the eheim pump on it to stop leaking. It's just a pinhole leak so nothing major but enough to make me give up after the 1000th time of hooking it up, unhooking it, troubleshooting it, and hooking it up again. I found it easier to just squeeze it in my sump. It's been running for 2 days now and consistently holds my alk stable. Since it holds more media than my former Korallin C1502 reactor, I'm hoping that it'll support a higher alk demand as my tank SPS population starts increasing in mass. It seems like it will because I'm already not having to run the pH as low with the new reactor. It definitely isn't as efficient as the Korallin in terms of CO2 usage but I haven't quite figured out if that is because of just the larger size reactor alone or that it doesn't recycle the CO2 as well as the Korallin. Either way, I'll give up potentially less efficient usage of CO2 for a reactor that can handle my future alk and Ca demands. If this works out, be ready to see a post for a Korallin CaRX soon. 22. I agree with Tim, the advantages of two pumps is nice to have for backup purposes. I only use one pump as a preference of having to only deal with one piece of equipment and less heat added to the tank (also less plumbing involved). I don't think I mentioned anything about more wattage usage in my previous post but that's nice to know that running two pumps doesn't increase the wattage that much more than one bigger pump.
  23. Will do sir! Thanks again! Sent via Tapatalk
  24. You're awesome Jim! I take back all the things I've said about engineers! :-p I have already ordered the fan so I'll give it a test run once it arrives and see what current is running on the red wires. Thank you for your time sir. Please feel free to swing by my makeshift frag setup at the frag swap and help yourself to any one frag I have for your help! Sent via Tapatalk
  25. If it's the version that gets 900 gph, it will work but probably be on the lower end of gph I would run on that tank. It's purely your preference. You only need the return pump to pump the water up to the tank. Your piping/plumbing in conjuction with your overflow will employ gravity drainage to flow the water back into the sump. Think of it as a roundabout waterfall and probably not as pretty. Sent via Tapatalk
