  1. Great lighting setup Reburn! How come this tank is taking so long to build for the manufacturer? Backlogged? I've seen houses go up faster! [emoji6]
  2. I was going to like your post but it appears as though I hit my "liking post" limit for the day? Somethings wrong! I need an adult!
  3. True dat. Lol. That has always being my struggle. I even tried to reason that I could use the camera to take family photos, kids sports or performance arts photos, special occasion etc......but always end up using the money on more coral lol. I'll buy one someday when I find an excuse to purchase it as a business expense. I have no kids to take photos of yet and the dog is only photogenic enough for a camera phone so...
  4. Yeah, you buy it Sam and I'll be happy to test it on my system too! I would like an awesome camera with a macro lens too but that's money I can buy more fish and corals with!
  5. I need to get me one of those fancy lookdown boxes so I can take awesome shots of the tank as well! Looks great Sam!
  6. In that case, setup a FOWLR! [emoji13] Either that or stop hanging out with me... [emoji16]
  7. Oops, I meant to say hydraulic cement, not portland cement. I've corrected my previous post. Thanks Brian.
  8. It holds enough but gives a little and can break if you provide enough force. You will typically notice your skimmer go crazy for a couple hours after using it but that's the only side effect I've noticed of having used it for more than 11 years now. That and your fingers turn gray or purple, depending on the color of the epoxy.
  9. Just to clarify, when I mention the 2-part, I mean the reef epoxy... which is like putty. Not the stuff that you see in Home Depot that is like a syringe with 2-parts of separated and you mix them together to form the bond.
  10. I would use hydraulic cement for the larger structures that can cure outside of the tank. for smaller structures and in water curing, I would use two part epoxy.
  11. Sounds like a lanthanum reactor is in your future then! I saw a really neat one that they came out with... forgot who makes it.
  12. The skimmer will kill some as well as the pump. Some will make it to the display tank and some won't. I honestly would not do a mandarin in anything less than a 125g. I had pods galore and a refugium chock full of chaeto in my 65 - gallon and mine wasted away slowly over 6 months. They literally eat 1 pod every 10 seconds... it doesn't take long before they start winning the population battle.
  13. Hopefully others are still planning to comment on this proposed regulation? No joke here guys, end of our hobby if things continue in this direction.
  14. Just a thought here ckyuv but clams have been known to lay themselves down sideways when the light directed at it is too bright. Deresas actually prefer less light than their maxima and crocea cousins. Perhaps it just needs less light or needs to get acclimated to the brighter LED light slowly?
  15. I am not aware of that either so I can't comment. I've actually never asked a LFS to replace a fish that died under my care when I purchased it. I always take it as it was fine in their tank before I brought it home but that's probably just me.
  16. What concentration are you getting from your RO/DI again for phosphates?
  17. Same difference IMO. The thing with the bulk is just make sure it's airtight when you reseal it or else you'll have spent the whole bulk amount of DI through CO2 intrusion.
  18. Agreed, I'm very fond of urchins as a rock cleaner. They will remove your coralline algae as stated but if you're running lights bright enough to keep SPS happy, you'll most likely not have much coralline either as they don't do well under super bright lighting anyways. I get some on the fringes of my lighting but not much at all. I actually prefer no coralline, they end up competing with my corals for my alk and Ca.
  19. Just a thought, but why not request one of the LFS to order some fish for you? While not always the case, but sometimes you'll get it cheaper through the LFS and you'll be able to see the specimen in person before committing to buy it. I'm definitely getting a cheaper price for my regal angelfish than ordering through either live aquaria or blue zoo aquatics. Best benefit, you support our LFSs and you keep the money in the Austin economy.
  20. Lanthanum chloride is a good, cheap altenative to removing large amounts of phosphate in a system but to get it down to the smaller concentrations, GFO is best employed. I think most aim to lower phosphate levels down to 0.1 ppm with lanthanum and from that point, GFO is more effective.
  21. I've seen them release before but more than likely that'll keep them where you want them. Noooo... SSRs! I guess that'll put the two I have to work instead of just propping up my webcam.
  22. Anxiety is an understatement! I have over $500 of fish livestock in that tub and having it just sit there with minimal environmental controls is just killing me. Oozarkawater must have hit another 3 levels of enlightenment over me to be able to leave everything in a tub for that long. At least he hooked up a skimmer to it!
  23. Stop harassing? Heck, I'd buy you a beer and name my first son after you!
  24. I literally have a red siren in my house for these occasions! [emoji57]
  25. The scars only make him more handsome Jim! It's character!
