    Knowing Victoly, he probably got the alk standard from Hanna and has accounted for the offset from the standard with his specific unit to the readings.At least that's what I did. My unit reads roughly 6% high once compared to the alk standard so I correct for that in my final reading.

    I was imagining the room cut in half by a tank and thought it would look a little odd in that room. If you had a square tank sitting in the middle of the room with a middle overflow, I think that might get you somewhere.

    So you're thinking about a peninsula tank? I remember the layout of the room as being basically a square room off the side of the front entrance. What orientation were you thinking in regards to a peninsula style tank? I tend to like the current setup... just toss a couple of lounge type chairs in there and a small drink table for extended viewing.

    I could see the alk dropping 1.3 dKh over a weekend of no supplementing. It does sound a little high for usage considering your livestock but it's possible. Anytime I get an odd result that I wasn't expecting, I always make it a point to retest. Sometimes, it just could be a slight miscalculation or accidentally pulling in less reagent than you thought, etc. It doesn't hurt to double-check to make sure before you make any changes to the tank.

    I think I use about 1/2 cup of the BRS ROX for my 215-gallon.

    If you haven't already, superglue the STN'ing edges of the flesh and you might be able to save the rest of it.

    Just setup a magnetic stirrer on that alk container and call it a day! Any chance a parameter drifted without you knowing? Like perhaps nutrient level? That caused a slowdown in growth of your SPS, reducing their uptake of Ca and alk?

    First two things I thought when I bought my house 6 years ago, 1) I don't have to move every year anymore and 2) it's upgrade time! Unfortunately, I had limited vision and bought a 65-gallon, then 125-gallon, before I finally settled on to a 215-gallon. Heed my words... go straight to the big daddy tank and save yourself some upgrade money.

    Yeah, nothing like trying to dial in a CaRX, let alone match it to your ATO kalk rate... all the while dosing 2-part. I think Richard has a slightly sadistic side. You should ask him about his tank room cooling regiment... exhaust fans, window unit, and room a/c unit. I guess he likes controls in 3's! [emoji4]

    You say how long before being occupied? 5-6 weeks! That's crazy! I should have bought that nano condo downtown instead!

    I would not stop dosing alk or do anything in regards to pH values. I find there is no need to ever chase pH unless it's beyond the standard 7.8-8.5 recommended levels.

    If your peak does not exceed 8.5 for pH, you're fine. When dosing alk (really sodium carbonate or sodium bicarbonate), you generally will have a temporary increase in pH, especially with sodium carbonate. What most do is try to dose it mainly at night to offset the pH peak and drop and stabilize the pH.
