  1. No, I meant just throw out of your mind the event that caused this because the source will be almost impossible to figure out without you being there at the time. I say just aim to fix the issue. Water changes will fix almost anything.
  2. I like the idea and amazed by the science behind it... The price will make me never buy it. That's great that it tests it so many times per day but I don't need that. I need a once/day and I'll be happy.... If they can put out a cheaper version, with longer lasting discs, I'm game.
  3. It'd be pretty hard to figure out why it happened since you were gone at the time. Personally, I'd throw it out as a fluke, do some water changes, run some carbon, and keep moving forward.
  4. I'm very curious what was discussed during the Mindstream and Triton talks. I wonder if they recorded them and going to release them publicly as before.
  5. I'd be very careful on the usage of the reef energy on such a small tank. Jolt does on his tank. You may want to ask him his dosage amounts as he initially dosed a higher amount than he does now. While skimmers are helpful on any size tank, for smaller tanks,I don't think they are worth it as a simple routine water change will take care of most of your nutrient export and even most of your foundation element supplementation.
  6. I'm a big fan of these heaters too. I bought a 800-watt version without the controller and use my Apex to run it.
  7. My wife doesn't bother asking anymore. She knows if she digs too deep, she might not like the answer. I always like to remind her of how much my new additions are supplemented by my frag sales. Helps keep the peace. [emoji16]
  8. PM'ed back. This sale is long over folks. Sorry.
  9. Nah, at 4 TDS coming out of the membrane, that seems pretty normal. I think you just lucked out sir. Any idea what your water pressure is going into your RO/DI?
  10. Very jealous of your trip...even more jealous you got to rub elbows with some industry experts... to top it off, you walked away with an awesome free prize! What a weekend! Any interesting talks that you attended?
  11. What's your TDS going into the membrane and out of it? I have my suspicions you have a membrane that is leaking. In that scenario, you'll still be able to get 0 TDS at the final stage because your DI resin is making up for your leaking membrane.
  12. And I think most advise even higher than that with those lights.
  13. I'm sure those lights have a disco mode... just put that on and let me go nuts! Yes, humidity is definitely something to think about... or more so the encouragement of evaporation.
  14. Oh, one light specific issue is you are going to need to probably mount those lights pretty high above the tank for optimal placement. The current canopy doesn't look like it'll give you that option. If that's the case, I'd rail it then with no canopy.
  15. I'm canopy lover... I like to keep the illusion that its just a window to the ocean and not a bucket of water with lights over it. The rail does look pretty nice and has some nice options though. I also don't like the overspill/glare issues you sometimes get with open top tanks though usually those can be remedied by adjusting light placement and height of the mounting bracket. My tank is just so tall (and I'm so short) that if I didn't have a canopy, the lights would literally be shining down on me.
  16. Welcome back to the hobby!
  17. You can find them off crystal beach near Galveston Island.
  18. Acropora spathaluta is notoriously difficult usually. They actually prefer more light so I'm surprised by that. It doesn't look like a millepora to me.
  19. I just want to release them in my tank let them multiply!
  20. I have a Sicce Syncra 12 and it does a great job.
  21. Yeah, I could cook gumbo with my old Mag12 if I put it in a bucket and put the lid on it. Perhaps the new Vectra? Heard it'll play nice with your MP40s.
  22. Alright! I'm officially talking to you again Jimbo... you're off my list now! I'm really excited to see this come together. My only suggestion I'd maybe look for a more efficient return pump than the Mag18. They create a ton of heat, a little bit louder in my opinion, and consume much more energy than some of the other options out there.
  23. My guess is surhasoni, if that's the same green acro you had in the sump before Dan.
  24. You telling me I should bust this thing up Victoly? I got the rage, I'll do it! It's actually really porous... I think Jestep described it best one time when he said he ran tap water over it to rinse it out and the water went straight through. I experienced the same phenomenon. My Al levels are at 82.33 ug/L, the setpoint being at 2.0 ug/L from Triton labs... shhhh.. Victoly may hear me say that. I've recently added the 2nd block in the last 2 months and sent off another test about a week ago to see where my Al are at. Inquiring minds want to know! Victoly, you up in the UT lab yet? I need me some TOC testing, stat!
