  1. Well that makes sense if it's all over the place with your tank's needs. Dialing the CaRX is such a pain in the butt but once it's there, it's like SPS nirvana. You didn't have any losses with the 7.5 dKh to 10 dKh jump? I can picture your tank area littered with used bottles of alk reagent like a war zone!
  2. Did you change the CaRX settings dramatically? I usually just turn up the pH and leave the drip rate the same, always. That way when I need to reset it back, I just get it back to the same pH I had it set at before and viola, instantly calibrated again. Main reason I do that is because I actually have a reading for the pH that I can gauge my adjustments with versus the flow rate, where I would have to measure the change in flow each time manually with a cup and timer. I like option 1 better.
  3. Yikes! That's some crazy low alk! Was it just drifting in that direction or was that something that happened overnight? Glad the nitrates are finally going down for you. Do you think it's the combo of adding more biopellets and a new pump or maybe decreasing your GFO usage?
  4. If it's from the same RBTA I saw when we moved your new tank, then the parent was a beauty! One of the healthiest and happiest RBTAs I've seen.
  5. I'm using Red Sea. I bought a brand new test about 2 months ago, same results. I've tested store water and other tanks water and gotten lower level results, so I don't think it's wrong. And ty has tested it in the past and it showed the same. Pellets and live rock are my filtration for nitrates. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The FarmerTy Nitrate standard Gig'em... duh!
  6. I would think this would take care of you and just plug it like Juiceman has, after the RO membrane and before the DI resin. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/3-way-ball-valve-with-john-guest-1-4-push-connect.html
  7. Jeez, my Eheim feeder would have to rotate like 100 times in a row to overfeed my tank. Any insight on how yours malfunctioned Jestep so I can be on the lookout? Where you using pellets or flakes?
  8. Ohhh... I thought you meant your maxed out your CaRX and need to supplement with 2-part now. You're just saying that you dialed back you CaRX (by increasing pH) because things weren't happy before and growing but now that everything is happy and growing again, you are adding 2-part to supplement while you start slowly dialing back your CaRX again and lowering the pH to keep up with the demand. Got it. Glad everything is on the up and up again. Let's see those colonies grow out again!
  9. It's because I sneak over to Jestep's place when he's gone and feed his fish. [emoji6] Auto fish feeder folks? My fish get fed 3 times a day. They aren't too expensive and they make sure the fish always have a little something in their bellies at all times.
  10. I'd be pretty surprised if your CaRX isn't keeping up Juiceman. My reactor is half your size and is supplying my tank nicely. I will say I have to replace about 3 cups of media monthly in my CaRX but the rate does keep up. What is your pH effluent set at? What's your drip rate at?
  11. Actually, cyling with a fish is more detrimental than most people believe. The ammonia can cause permanent damage to the fish's gills. I just wanted to mention for others reading and to hopefully stop the practice of cycling with fish.
  12. Thanks for swinging by and sorry most of them had expired by then. [emoji17] At least you got a free frag for your troubles. [emoji4] Good meeting you!
  13. That sounds like a method of reef keeping revenge there!
  14. Usually these guys get eaten immediately in my tank but the eggs happen to be on a rock that I was treating my anemone with in a bucket. Goes to the first person that wants them and can pick up today. If I have no takers, I'm going to dump them in my sump and let nature take its course. Mother is a misbar and the father is a normal percula.
  15. Been awhile since I've had star polyps but they definitely sting from my observations.
  16. I've experienced mushrooms dishing out some of the worst stings to other corals. They usually win out... which was totally unexpected to me the first time I experienced it.
  17. Here's some of what I'm bringing. Milles, ultimate stag colonies and mini colonies, ORA Hawkins echinata, purple stylo, ORA jeremy's monti, orange setosa, ORA chips mini colony and frags, AquaSD funky purple war coral, dragon eye zoas, pretty penny zoas, Vividaquariums blue ice zoas, superman mushrooms, green fungia plates, warp speed monti, strawberry fields monti, and yellow scroll coral. These are first come, first serve at the swap everyone so no dibs please. [emoji4] I'll post a list of sps and prices for orders by request to be picked up at the swap as well. You pick them, I cut them and let them heal. Those will need to be prepaid before cutting unless you've bought coral from me before. Also, for those previous and current clients of mine, feel free to come to the frag swap and pick out your two free coral frags for the year! No, mini colonies and colonies don't count but good try. [emoji6] This swap sounds like it's going to be just as fun as last years! [emoji41]

    Monti's

I have all of these except the starburst cap. I'll PM you later this evening with details/prices.
  19. Looks like we may not get enough for the meeting. Anybody else? I'll start cutting frags for the Fall frag swap next month then.
