Agreed! If my dog got stolen, my wife, who's not the violent type in the least, I mean, she's a vegetarian for Pete's sake, would probably go nuts on the thief!
Sorry to hear! Those darn SPS don't give us any breaks when things aren't going well. Glad you sustained only some losses and not the whole tank.
That's odd that your temp probe went nuts as that is not a common thing. I believe you can change the offset off the temp probe if you want instead of buying a new one. For me, I'd probably just buy a new one just to be safe.
Yeah, I couldn't figure out if he's that good or were the people that oblivious. Like did they go grocery shopping and leave him there? Surely they didn't just step outside to smoke and he snagged 16 fish. If so, he should have turned his skills into a business instead of a life of crime. I'd pay him any day to catch all my fish out for me when needed.
I would not reroute it to feed the CO2 back into the system. It would be inconsistent and unpredictable in my opinion. Plus, CO2 is super cheap, why go through all that trouble.
The most efficient setup for the Korallin reactor is to have your regular effluent coming out of outlet 1 like you have already, but to put a needle valve on outlet 2 and allow it to drip about 1-2 drops per minute as well. This keeps CO2 from accumulating and keeps the reactor bubble free. This method is recommended by Korallin in conjunction with a feed pump to help pressurize the reactor as well.
So all you'd really need to do is extend the line at the top long enough to drip into your sump and you can eliminate the weekly task of emptying out the accumulated CO2 in the system. Just make sure you drip it above the water line and don't submerge it or you'll just dissolve more CO2 into your system and lower your pH unnecessarily.
I got a bounce chalice if you are interested? [emoji6] Only $1k for you Brooks!
Does that come with a warranty?
Of course! I'll take it back and give you your money back. Just a quick heads up though, it's highly contagious so if it sits in the tank with any other coral, I will have to take those corals too for safety purposes. Don't want that bounce disease running rampant in Austin.
Forgot to give a shout out to RCA for special ordering these guys for me. I should have told them to hold it until Friday night for the after hours sale! [emoji41]
Interesting thing, I've never really had to dose Mg to keep it up in my last two tanks spanning almost 6 years. I just ran normal CaRX media and that was it. In my 125-gallon, it actually slowly went up over the 3 years.
Gotcha now! Yeah, I don't glue that just in case a fish gets in there, I can remove them to catch the fish or if I ever need to adjust the height, I can just pull them and replace as needed.
Got a picture to describe what you're talking about? All my bulkheads have been threaded so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Seeing a picture would help me... Well... Picture it. [emoji16]
Shermans get huge! That's why I ended up with a rainbow RBTA, they tend to stay a bit smaller.
The Shermans are gorgeous though so it's hard to pass one up!
