  1. Any guesses? Winner will get my respect for the rest of their lives? Except for brian.srock though, he lost that a long time ago. [emoji24]
  2. Oh man, the canopy is my saving grace. Else I'd have to use some uber expensive aluminum rails with sexy pvc red corners or something like that to make it look nice.
  3. Sweet! Crank it up! I'm sitting at 250-300 par on the frag tank and that's being measured by the old apogee meter, so its probably higher.
  4. Wow, you're ancient! [emoji87] prettttty sure youre older than me. I'll take wiser.... but older? How dare you sir! [emoji22]
  5. I kind of like where this thread is headed, keep posting those hitchhikers!
  6. Wow, you're ancient! [emoji87]
  7. Sorry Kim, I'm sure you were talking about the stand but I removed it from the post to keep the thread on track and posted it in my build thread instead. [emoji5]
  8. Built this for the frag tank to find other excuses not to put my hands into the tank. [emoji6] I'll paint and skin it eventually but just needed something in the interim to isolate my frag tank from the DT and put it in my office. I'm tired of the eyesore in the front room.
  9. Using the "Coral Biome’s patented extraction method" to isolate palytoxin from the new palys that "produces significantly higher concentrations of palytoxin than any species previously known to science" sounds like a scary job! I don't think you could pay me enough!Psh, I did that the other day. They make it sound so complicated. [emoji53] To be truthful, I haven't even stuck my hand back in the water yet. I'm a little water shy right now. That's why I've been messing with lights, doing QT work, everything else but getting my hand into my tank. [emoji33]
  10. I remember Texas A&M University at Galveston used to have a Sea Aggie camp. Maybe look into that?
  11. At first I only saw two dogs! [emoji5]
  12. Yeah, she's still doing just fine.
  13. I'd be afraid you'd start damaging your pump housing. At that point, you might have to just buy a new pump. That was my thought too.. The funny part is the Impeller is $109.. the pump is $175... smh I know, I saw that too and was thinking, for just $66 more dollars, he could just get a new pump and not have to wait on a backordered impeller.
  14. Oh alk... our best friend and our enemy in reefing. I always stick to my statement, if you can keep alk steady, you are a master reefer! The trouble is getting all corals on board to be happy at the same time. Once they are all happy together, your alk consumption is pretty steady. It's when you have some happy and some ticked, that you get this inconsistent up and down of daily testing needed to zero in your dosing level. Just fight with the swings Kimp and eventually everything will be happy and you won't have to mess with it as much anymore. Also, order a giant 5-gal bucket of alk solution. It looks like you'll need it because you keep running out. I'd test your doser for a day just to see if its still putting out what you set it for, especially since you'll probably want your alk to drop a bit anyways so having it offline for a day isn't too big of a deal. I forgot where you like to keep your alk at.
  15. Thanks Hula! I have an ATI Coral+/Purple+ up front and an ATI Blue+ in the back. I will probably end up changing that back one to a Coral+ as well as after the test run, it was more blue back there than I prefer.
  16. Maybe hit up Niko's if nobody has one for you to borrow. They have a ton in their back room. You can maybe do a rental system with them for a couple of weeks. I have an SCA 301, rated for 65 gallons that you can empty out every hour because it won't hardly keep up if you want to try it.
  17. I'd be afraid you'd start damaging your pump housing. At that point, you might have to just buy a new pump.
  18. Yeah, it was the last thing on my mind at that point. Luckily, every other fish made it out okay.
  19. I'm trying to figure out if this hitchhiker is reef safe? According to advancedaquarist, I think its called an amphidog. Eats crumbs that falls on the floor and forgives his dad even though he poisoned him with palytoxin. [emoji87] Alright, enough sillyness... Have a good week everyone! [emoji4]
  20. It's a Skimz sm201. I had hell getting it out to clean it... I don't think I could fit anything bigger because of how tall my sump is and how little head room I have over itGo external man! You just cleaned out the nice spot just to the left of the tank. [emoji4]
  21. I forgot to update that I lost two wrasses during my extended stay off my feet this past weekend. I wasn't able to do water changes on the tub for my TTM QT. I'll also have to restart my TTM, luckily I was only 1 transfer into it at that point... or was it two? I can't remember. I will also be rehoming probably 3 of my fish once I'm done with the TTM. I think I'll move along the two lyretail anthias and the Hawaiian Elegant Coris Wrasse (female). With the loss of the female flame wrasse and the Japanese Lunate wrasse, I'm going a slightly different direction with my anthias and wrasse stock.
  22. Very true. But coming from a MH die-hard like yourself, who's still running MHs? I know neither one of us are...
