  1. I'm a big fan of leopard wrasses but getting a specimen that was transported well and didn't damage its mouth in transport is the hardest part. They don't necessarily need a traditional deep sand bed (4" or deeper) as one about 2"-3" will do as well. It's definitely one of my favorite fish in the tank and the blue star leopard is a looker of a leopard wrasse. Yes, any fairy/flasher wrasse, almost any wrasse in general needs to have a covered tank but you can just use the netting to keep the jumpers from getting airborne. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/diy-aquarium-screen-top-kits-1-4-netting.html
  2. If I had to guess, maybe lack of nutrients?
  3. Is this the new blasto you guys got? Know if it came from a different type of lighting?
  4. I'd for sure run GFO as I've seen negative effects with acros at 0.18 ppm. I'm sure you can acclimate them to higher phosphate levels but then you'll lose out on good growth as it starts to inhibit calcification. Biopellets on the other hand, at 10 ppm nitrates, I don't feel like you really need to kick them up. I prefer to keep nitrates around 5-10 ppm and if you are getting that naturally, I say leave the carbon dosing out of the equation. What are you getting for a CaRX? Those are always fun purchases! I'd for sure take that credit for the BML. For as little function as it serves on your system, cash that baby out and get some other much needed item on your system. Where's my pic of you feeding fish? [emoji13]
  5. That's what I'm saying, since June? That's less than a year of Apex living!
  6. I think it's because I hang out with you too much.
  7. Cause neither one of you adopted the Apex until recently?
  8. Aww bummer! With your skills, you'll have that fixed up in no time.
  9. I just knew you were going to link that video.
  10. How ironic, the man who survived palytoxin poisoning was eaten by an anemone later that month.
  11. Jealous? I was planning on shooting it with a laser for you!
  12. That's the biggest majano I've ever seen in my life!
  13. User error with palytoxin... I'm 100% now though so all good! Some might even say... a bit smarter... at least with playing with palys.
  14. Holy exquisite fairies! That's a lot of varieties! https://reefbuilders.com/2015/07/21/fairy-wrasses-exquisitus-complex/
  15. I wish I could afford a choates!
  16. Yeah, my flame hawkfish is my wife's favorite fish besides the midas blenny. I had a red headed solon fairy wrasse and was a big fan of it.
  17. Clone that was sold like months ago. It walked onto my aquascape and was a pain in the butt for the last couple months.
  18. -clear out my frag tank at the MAAST swap Sunday -resist buying any corals at the swap -finalize colony cut-list for the main tank -install giant UV on main tank -free the sandbed of frags/colonies -replace GFO and carbon
  19. I've never been able to dictate where they go. I just adjust my corals around them as once they find a spot they like, they tend not to move on me unless it splits.Otherwise, cross those fingers and use an aluminum colander as it reflects the brain washing signals better than the stainless steel versions. 20. Really? [emoji53] That's frustrating. I'd better figure out how to better secure my couple loose rocks then. Thanks for the heads up.Oh yeah, in my opinion, the least reef safe tang. They move rocks and I've observed one eating zoas once. They are such a pest for being so beautiful.
  21. I'm officially calling this swap the Seton Hospital ER fundraiser. They wouldn't take coral frags as payment... [emoji17]
