  1. Mouth gaping open and flesh is receded and clinging to the skeleton when it should normally look inflated.
  2. I think I jinxed myself with all that bacterial infection fish talk. My emperor broke out with a bacterial infection again in the QT. Guess it's time to treat him again.
  3. Check out NYAquatics for Regals that are eating already.
  4. I think we were both so shocked by that double anthia net scoop catch I did that we both forgot about the trap. Come grab it whenever.
  5. Not sure where you found that info but it is the smallest of all the coris wrasses and should only attain 7.5" max. And keep in mind when a max number is stated that most will never attain that size. That's like saying people will hit a max size of 7'6" like Yao Ming. [emoji4] I picked her up about 2 months ago so I haven't had her long. She came in with a bunch of other wrasses I picked up from someone getting out of the hobby. She's gone through tank transfer method and prazipro so she should be ich and intestinal worm/fluke free. She eats prepared foods and goes after NLS pellets as well. Very inquisitive and smart fish and is very curious about the world around her.
  6. Someone say SPS? [emoji4]
  7. I'm not sure but I think you should get one and find out. You will just need like a 24" sand bed. He'd poop and it would blow up my 24" tall skimmer at the seams.
  8. That thing grows to like 2' doesn't it?
  9. With what? Your hands? I forgot to give you the trap earlier this week. [emoji16]
  10. In general, the ones with hairy legs have often been found to be NOT reef safe. It's not an all encompassing rule but will usually keep you out of trouble. Also, look at their claws, I'd the ends are sharp and look like they are for tearing flesh, you may not want to put it in the display tank. Reef safe crabs like emerald crabs have flat, spoon like claws for grazing though most crabs are opportunistic feeders so even reef safe crabs can turn on you down the road.
  11. Group buy??? Here's the article below. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/blog/deep-sea-cniderians-are-outrageously-weird-and-beautiful
  12. I've never had a reaction from my skimmer when using hydrogen peroxide but that doesn't mean it won't happen for others.
  13. You'll see small bubbles usually form on the bryopsis and it'll go clear the next day or two and start dying.
  14. Uh, I think IT is way harder! At least for me it is!You don't need to know any of that stuff, just let reef nerds like me remember it and then when you're having fish issues, post on ARC and all the nerds will chime in like usual. [emoji4]
  15. You are correct on that, only my emperor had a bacterial infection while the other 15 fish in the tub had no symptoms. He must have been in there with them for a week before I realized he even had it. That's the main issue with using a tub as QT, you really can't monitor the fish as well from above. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare tank that can hold 16 fish, some quite large. Most bacterial infections I see are associated with pink to red patches on the skin with often tail rot as a secondary symptom. My blonde naso got it once in QT and his infection was dark gray though.
  16. Sorry, worded that funny. I thought it was bacterial. I was just mentioning ammonia because that's usually the biggest worry and the #1 killer with QTs. Hard to tell with the dead fish but I could see it being bacterial. If so, I'd recommend using a different medication than Melafix. Melafix is just an antiseptic if I remember correctly. I would use an antibiotic if possible. I usually lean on Furan 2, erythromycin, tetracycline, or kanaplex/metroplex to treat bacterial infections. The problem is figuring out if you are fighting a gram positive or gram negative bacteria so if one doesn't start working, I usually switch to another. For my emperor, he kept getting bacterial infections in QT and couldn't shake it so I used kanaplex, furan 2, and tetracycline combined and he kicked the infection. I would not usually recommend running multiple antibiotics unless you were unsuccessful in your initial treatments. Its more of a last ditch effort, mainly because adding each medication can lower the oxygen level in the tank to dangerous levels.
  17. Welcome back Doug! What kind of corals do you like to keep? I believe we have a LFS map somewhere on this forum if you dig around a bit. Good luck on the move!
  18. Aquadome doesn't sell Premium Membership for ARC so I'm guessing you bought their store discount card, which is a great deal in itself. It's saved me a ton over the last year. Coincidentally, if you have an ARC Premium membership, you can buy the Aquadome discount card for half the price.
  19. I'm leaning towards a Scotts or an exquisite at this point.
  20. Linked image isn't working but it sounds bacterial which is always the #2 worry with QTs besides ammonia being #1.
