Well, that experiment ended quickly. In hindsite, I should have maybe gone with a less harsh dipping process for these sensitive acros. I dipped in Bayer for 20 mins, 2 hrs of potassium dip, and 2 hrs of interceptor before adding to tank. Let me introduce you to my new experiment, can I keep an abrotanoides alive... [emoji6]

Thank you sir. Time will tell! From the Dome. They just got a shipment in that day of acros. I'm pretty sure they are tracking me with GPS and just put new ones out when I am close in the area.

Well, saw a challenge and dived head first into it. I introduce you to acropora abrotanoides, aka the acro that will turn brown and die on you, and acropora spathulata, aka why did you just throw money away? They both have terrible survival rates but I thought it would be a fun challenge. I actually had an abrotainoides growing about 2 years back but lost it when I shuffled some acros around. Hopefully I'll get growth and color off this guy aa well. Abro Spath

I could not believe how big this thing is! I have an SRO Ext2000 and I thought that was so big when I first got it but now it looks puny in comparison. If I have any problems I don't think I can say it's because I am under skimming. Where's the kid scale so I can have a size reference? [emoji12]

I'm assuming you treated for the recommended timeframe to treat marine vlevet/ich with paraguard so sounds like it definitely came in with the new fish.

And all fish died? Or were there some that survived from the original stock? If so, how did you treat them?

I would be surprised if it was velvet being that it came from Divers Den... but hey... idkEither way, I'm going to medicate them while doing TTM Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Marine velvet has been kind of a plague the last couple of years with wholesalers. Depending on how they treat, such as if they are using copper, it could mask it until it gets into your tank. I can't remember what you did with the tank after all your fish died from the new additions a couple months ago. Did you run the tank fallow just in case? If so, for how long?

If it happened that quickly, I would suspect marine velvet over ich. Ich doesn't kill THAT quick. If it is velvet, TTM won't work as it only interrupts the life cycle of ich. I'd use chloroquine phosphate or copper for marine velvet.

That looks like you can make a good coral gumbo with those lights... A nice rolling boil... That's some crazy lighting.

With the fish population you had before, he had no ability to establish a territory. Things are different now I'm assuming for him.

Seems like a good amount of par and good light schedule. I think acclimation is all you need, its def not too much light for SPS. I have most colonies under 350 par with several at 600 par and no issues.

How low is the MH fixture on your tank? How deep is your tank? I'm pretty surprised that 250 watts is too much. Like Jestep says, best to run the correct wattage per bulb and those plusrites are super cheap.

Thank you! They are quite stunning when adults. I'd love to keep him but I don't want to chance it having him with the powder blue and the Achilles. Once they get older, I can see things becoming more deadly.
